Eagles to Enter Super Bowl to Meek Mill's 'Dreams and Nightmares'

Meek Mill may not be able to attend the Super Bowl due to his current incarceration, but the Maybach Music Group MC will be there in spirit thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles, who plan on making his “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” their introductory song.

Defensive end Brandon Graham broke the news down to NFL.com, saying that it’s important to represent the city with the beloved anthem. “If you’re going to go with a Philly song,” he said, “that’s the one you’re going with.”

Rookie defensive end Derek Barnett said the song has been a great theme song for the team so far. “It just gets us going. It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice,” he said, adding, “Meek, you know, he’s locked up right now, so we have to hold the city down for him.”

Mill, who is currently serving a 2-4 year prison sentence for probation violations, recently opened up about what it means for the Eagles to use his song as inspiration. “It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs because that’s why I make music, to inspire others and bring people together,” he said. “The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they’ve overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year.”

Music will play an important role at Sunday’s Super Bowl for other reasons, as well. Pink is set to sing the national anthem, while Justin Timberlake will perform during the halftime show.
