New Music: Royce da 5'9” & DJ Premier (PRhyme) feat. 2 Chainz - 'Flirt'
Ahead of their joint album PRhyme 2, Royce da 5’9” and DJ Premier connect with 2 Chainz on their latest single, “Flirt.”
Royce kicks off the track with a reference to his Bad Meets Evil comrade Eminem’s “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” before exploring infidelity and flirtation.
“I had a bitch expose me on Media Takeout,” he raps. “And after her 15 minutes of fame was up / She hit my phone back apologizin’, askin’, ‘Can we still fuck?'”
Tity Boi offers his humorous take on the subject with some punchlines and clever wordplay. “Fuckin’ on this bitch who wear eye contacts,” he raps. “And I pulled the bitch off of iContacts / And I had the racks since she had a nice rack / Met her at Bergdorf, right by the nice racks.”
Recently Royce explained how much of the track is factual. “Everything is true on that song,” he told Billboard. “I speak from my experiences. I don’t pull from a lot of other people’s experiences like I used to. Because I’ve got a lot of my own experiences to pull from, so I just kind of do that.”
Preemo said he was happy to get 2 Chainz on board. “We knew 2 Chainz would totally know what to do with a song like this,” he added. “I called him, explained the concept and he’s like ‘Man, you know that’s up my alley.’ When he sent it back, I was just so open to his verse, because it totally connects with what Royce said. And I thought it was gonna be 16 [bars], he took it past that. I’ve always been a fan of 2 Chainz since Playaz Circle, and I was confident that he was gonna write a dope rhyme. And he did.”
