Video: Kid Ink - 'Tell Somebody'

  /  03.06.2018

Kid Ink tackles immigration relations between the United States of America and Mexico in the video for his latest single, “Tell Somebody.”

The clip takes place near the Tijuana border between the countries, where an American man meets a Mexican woman. It looks like love at first sight, as the chance encounter turns into a full day of fun in the sun. After driving down the coast, they hit the beach.

In between their loving scenes, shots of the border pop up. Meanwhile, the Batgang boss performs the song while overlooking the ocean near sunset. Near the end, reality hits the lovers as the man must return home. “I have to leave,” he says. “Come with me.”

“I cannot break the law,” she responds. “So, what am I supposed to do?” he ponders. “Go alone?” Finally, a wall gets painted with a sign: “Build Bridges, Not Walls.”

Kid Ink said he opted to deliver a video with a message because he believes it’s an important topic. “I’m not a political activist,” he said. “Instead of doing the typical rap video, I wanted to touch on something that matters to the world and present an example of a reason why this direction is a bad idea.”

Next up, Kid Ink is planning to release his fourth album in the second quarter of the year.
