Exclusive: Birdman Readies Young Thug & NBA YoungBoy Joint Projects

  /  04.04.2018

Birdman has quite an eye for talent. After tapping Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj for his Cash Money empire, Baby has his sights on the next generation. During a recent visit to Rap-Up HQ, Birdman beamed about forthcoming projects with Young Thug and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

While promoting his Apple Music documentary Before Anythang, the Cash Money boss revealed that a sequel to his 2013 collaborative album with Thugger, Rich Gang 2, is tentatively due this summer.

“Thug is like my brother,” said Birdman. “Love him to death. Solid. One of the realest I ever met in this game. As far as artist-wise, he’s the super talented one, so he led the way on the project and what we wanted to do. I think it’s super dope. We got a whole album, me and Thug.”

Despite Baby’s announcement, Thug recently vowed not to release any new music this year in honor of his deaf brother.

Additionally, Birdman has a joint project with NBA YoungBoy called From the Bayou on the way. “I think he’s the next biggest young superstar the game has ever had,” Birdman said of the burgeoning star. “Talent wise, he’s an animal. He’s a monster. I had the pleasure of being around him, see how he worked, and I think he’s gonna be the next biggest superstar in the world, as the youngsters. I watched his ethics, he’s very intelligent. I’m anxious and excited to see what’s gonna happen.”

During his interview with Rap-Up, Birdman also guaranteed that Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V will drop this year despite rumors of a bitter feud. He also crowned Nicki Minaj the “best female ever in hip-hop.”
