21 Savage Pays for Funeral of 3-Year-Old Killed in Drive-By Shooting

21 Savage is using his “Bank Account” for good. The rapper is covering the funeral costs for T’Rhigi Diggs, a 3-year-old who was killed during a drive-by shooting on Easter Sunday.

Roshonda Craig, Digg’s mother, said 21 is a family friend, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Sources say Savage “didn’t want anybody stressing over arrangements for a funeral,” according to PEOPLE.

Diggs was shot in the chest while his mother drove by a Texaco gas station in DeKalb County, Ga. Craig reportedly saw people holding paintball guns in a Dodge Charger before someone fired a real gunshot.

“My baby was sleeping in the backseat when I saw the car come past,” Craig told WSB-TV. “I saw a paintball gun, but then I heard a real gun. When I heard the gunshot, my baby started crying. I didn’t know my baby was shot. I was thinking maybe he just woke up [and] the gunshot scared him.”

Law enforcement officials are now investigating the incident. “We’re still trying to piece together exactly what happened,” Lt. Lonzy Robertson, a DeKalb County Police spokesperson, told the AJC. “The gas station did get sprayed with paint balls about the same time.”

“Paintball Wars” are becoming more popular in Atlanta, according to the reports. 21 Savage has even shared videos about the trend on social media. But investigators do not believe the shooting had anything to do with the rapper, according to Shiera Campbell, another DeKalb police spokesperson.

2 Chainz took to Instagram to lament Diggs’ death. “This young king was killed inna drive by shooting yesterday in Decatur,” he wrote. “frankly I’m just appalled man , this kid is around the same age as my son and my heart goes out to his family … we have to do better y’all … how you kill a 3 year old bru ????? How ??? I believe in protecting yourself but I don’t believe in reckless conduct like this I hate it 😢🙏🏿I pray for the fam.”

Diggs turned 3 years old, two days before the shooting. Craig said all are welcome at his funeral, which is taking place today (April 7) at Israel Baptist Church.
