Cardi B Talks Pregnancy, Baby Name, & Stripping on 'Ellen'
Cardi B’s talk show invasion isn’t over. After co-hosting “The Tonight Show,” the mom-to-be stopped by “Ellen” on Thursday (April 19), where she opened about everything from pregnancy to stripping.
The Invasion of Privacy MC also took a trip down memory lane, explaining what she was like as a child. “I was always the funny kid,” she said. “I used to get kicked out of class. I wasn’t like a bad kid. I was just very disruptive. It’s so hard not to tell jokes and stuff.”
As she got older, she made a financial decision that paid off. “I always wanted to be an artist, but I gave up on my dream because music was not paying my bills,” she revealed. “I [stripped] for three-and-a-half years…A lot of people want me to be like, ‘I hated it.’ I don’t recommend it to everybody because it’s not for everybody, but it made me money. It paid my bills. It got me my own apartment and my boob job…I started getting a lot of money and the money I made, I used it to invest in my dream.”
The appearance took place in between Coachella performances. Cardi even revealed why she twerked and danced all over the Indio, Calif. stage. “They say that the more you move, the easier it will come out,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Come out fast.'” She also revealed that it was her pregnancy method. “I was just trying to show the world how I got pregnant in the first place,” she added. “Like that! That’s how it happened.”
Although she hasn’t revealed the baby’s gender, Cardi said she already has a name picked out. “My dude [Offset] named the baby,” she said. “I really like the name. I’ma let him say the name since he named the baby. It’s like, almost tricky, but when it comes out, it’s like, ‘Ah!'”
Ellen offered $20,000 if the baby could have her name. Bardi joked that she might choose it as a middle name. To celebrate, the host gifted her a baby version of her album cover outfit.
Finally, the laughs continued during a game of Ellen’s famous “5 Second Rule.” Cardi B joked around during the game and it paid off. She beat Ellen in the end. Now, she’s gearing up for Weekend 2 of Coachella on Sunday.
