Nipsey Hussle Performs 'FDT' in Front of Kanye West 'MAGA' Photo

  /  04.29.2018

Nipsey Hussle has a message for Kanye West and President Trump.

On Saturday (Apr. 28), the West Coast rapper performed his anti-Trump anthem “FDT” with a photo of Yeezy and his “Make America Great Again” hat in the background. Adding to the motif, the performance took place at the Broccoli City Festival in the nation’s capital.

Later, Nipsey provided some context on social media. “Performed #FDT in Washington D.C. Picture Speaking A Thousand Words,” he captioned a photo from the event. His “FDT” collaborator YG also chimed in, writing, “KANYE WE LOVE YOU. BUT FUCK TRUMP.”

“FDT,” which stands for “Fuck Donald Trump,” came out in 2016. “We the youth, we the people of this country, and we got a voice too,” YG explains on the track. “We will be seen, and we will be heard.” Nip adds: “I thought all that Donald Trump bullshit was a joke.”

West has been on the opposite side of the argument. In 2016, as the song was gaining traction, Kanye claimed he would have voted for Trump in the election. Shortly after doing so, he met with Trump in New York. More recently, he doubled down on his love for the current president and wore a “MAGA” hat to emphasize it.

Kanye, who is working on a solo album and a Kid Cudi joint project (Kids See Ghost), recently released his politically-charged song “Ye Vs. the People” featuring T.I. “I never ever stopped fightin’ for the people / Actually wearin’ the hat’ll show people that we equal,” he raps. “Make America Great Again had a negative perception / I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction / Added empathy, care and love and affection / And y’all simply questioning my methods.”
