Exclusive: G-Eazy Talks 'Endless Summer Tour,' New Music, & Dream Collaborations

  /  07.19.2018

G-Eazy is bringing the people together on “The Endless Summer Tour.”

On the eve of the tour launch, the newly-single rapper spoke to Rap-Up about the “eclectic experience,” which marks the sequel to 2016’s inaugural run with Logic and YG.

“Music brings people together and that summertime vibe of making those memories and having that experience with your friends,” Gerald told Rap-Up during tour rehearsals in L.A. “Bringing artists together that you wouldn’t necessarily imagine. The specialty of that and the rarity.”

He will be joined by Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla $ign, Murda Beatz, YBN Nahmir, and P-Lo on the trek, which kicks off Friday at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Wash. “These are the people that I’m a fan of and those are the homies,” he said. “So it’s like, ‘Who do I want to spend the summer with?’ It’s kinda like summer camp. It’s gonna be dope. It’s gonna be a good time.”

When he’s not rehearsing for the tour, he’s been in the studio. “I just cook, I never know if it’s leading up to a new project,” he said. “Right now, I’m just vibing. I’m in a good creative space. I went home to the Bay for a week and just locked in and recorded and made like 15 songs and just caught a good vibe.”

In May, he dropped The Vault, a collection of three songs that didn’t make his last album The Beautiful & Damned, and he plans to add more to it. “I just want to make it a playlist that I keep, gradually releasing new music and adding to it,” he said. “It’s a lot of music that maybe didn’t fit the album, but I still want to put it out. And that’s a place I can keep giving them music.”

While he’s worked with everyone from Cardi B to Britney Spears, his wish list of collaborators includes Drake and Kanye West. “These iconic voices that literally inspired so many of us,” he said.

Plus, he reflected on the recent fourth anniversary of his album These Things Happen, which changed his life. “When you go from nothing to that, and then to now it going platinum, it’s just like a crazy full circle.”
