Ashanti proves why she’s better than the other chicks on “She Can’t (Like Mine).” When her man goes astray, the “Army Wives” star reminds him what he’s missing on the confident cut. Power 105′s DJ Ty Boogie premiered a snippet of the upbeat song, which is set to appear on Ashanti’s upcoming album BraveHeart, due June 11.

The R&B songstress conveys heartbreak through the emotional storylines. A teary-eyed Ashanti sings on the beach and wears a purple dress on a deserted road in the Sanji Senaka-directed clip, which was shot in Santa Barbara, Calif.
“It’s something for women, just being empowering. This album is something very deep,” the “Army Wives” star said of the follow-up to 2008’s The Declaration, which features production from Jerry Wonda, Detail, and Sak Pase. “I’m going places that I haven’t gone on different albums.”
Ashanti pours her heart out on her emotional new single “Never Should Have,” which was released to iTunes on Tuesday. What seemed like a perfect relationship ends in heartbreak.
“How did we start off in love and end up here?” asks a hurt Ashanti as tears stream down her face. “You never should have loved me/ You never should have touched me/ You never should have told me you loved me and you would never leave me.”
The stirring ballad is set to appear on her upcoming album Braveheart and is also featured on her show “Army Wives.”
Is Ashanti the next Young Money Millionaire? The R&B diva stepped out to Cash Money’s Pre-Grammy Party in West Hollywood over the weekend. But when asked about rumors that she may be joining Lil Wayne and his YMCMB family, she remained coy.
“We’ll see,” she told Rap-Up TV on the red carpet. “Those are my peoples.”
Ashanti is currently wrapping her fifth album Braveheart, due this summer, and is readying a new single.
“We’re definitely going with a new single,” said Ashanti, who is also gearing up to shoot a video. “I’m super excited about it. Hopefully we’ll be shooting in another two to three weeks. Amazing record.”
She also spoke about her collaborations with R. Kelly (“That’s What We Do”) and Keyshia Cole (“Woman to Woman”). The ladies plan to shoot a video for their duet off Keyshia’s album Woman to Woman soon.
Additionally, she can be seen in the Lifetime series “Army Wives.” “It’s a wonderful cast, wonderful opportunity,” she said. “It’s a platform. It’s all about being visible.”
In her new role as anchor for “Fuse News,” Ashanti sat down with 2 Chainz last year. They discussed his grind from Tity Boi to 2 Chainz, collaborating with Kanye West, and spoiling his daughter.
“I’m sacrificing for my whole family. I want everybody to a have a smile on their face even when I’m not in the best of moods,” said the “No Lie” rapper, who plans to release his second album this year.
He also reflected on the past and his place in hip-hop. “I feel like my calling ain’t supposed to be the best rapper or the best MC in the world, but my story can inspire somebody not to give up.”
Ashanti spread some holiday cheer when she stopped by “Live! with Kelly and Michael” to perform her cover of Donny Hathaway’s Christmas classic “This Christmas” as part of the show’s “Holiday Hits Week.” Looking festive in red, the R&B diva delivered the cut from her 2003 holiday album Ashanti’s Christmas.
