Behind the Video: Busta Rhymes f/ Nicki Minaj – ‘#Twerkit’

DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj, and Busta Rhymes

Earlier in the week, she took us behind the scenes of Mario’s video for “Somebody Else.” Now Nicki Minaj joins Busta Rhymes on set of the video for his Pharrell-produced single “#Twerkit.” In the behind-the-scenes footage, she is seen in the studio recording her verse and then shooting the video the next day.

“I didn’t know this was a real video,” Nicki tells director X as she gets prepped for her scenes.

She sports a studded captain’s hat and twerks for the camera before shooting scenes with Busta and DJ Khaled, who gets the crew laughing with his attempt at a Jamaican accent.

Pharrell also stops by the set and shares a funny moment with Nicki in the parking lot.

Prepare for lots of twerking action from Nicki and some “Big Booty Judys” when the video premieres later this month.

Nicki Minaj has been back on her feature grind, guesting on singles for Ciara, Mario, and Carly Rae Jepsen. Now the bootylicious rapper takes it to the strip club with her YMCMB labelmate Busta Rhymes on his Pharrell-produced single “#Twerkit.”

The dutty gyal raps in a West Indian patois, shouting out Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Trinidad James.

A video was shot earlier this week in New York.

Busta Rhymes and Pharrell are responsible for some of the biggest club bangers of the last decade with their hits “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II” and “Light Your Ass On Fire.” Now they aim to do it again with Busta’s new single “Twerk It.”

After Pharrell debuted the song during the HTC One launch in New York City earlier this month, Bussa Buss releases a trailer for the booty-shaking anthem. The NSFW clip showcases nearly-naked women shaking their asses to the Pharrell-produced beat.

The Cash Money signee joins forces with his Conglomerate, J Doe and Reek da Villain, on the 17 tracks hosted by Shaheem Reid.
