New Music: Chris Brown f/ Kendrick Lamar – ‘Autumn Leaves’

Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar

In just five days, Chris Brown will release his sixth album X. The star-studded set features appearances from Usher, Rick Ross, Brandy, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Jhené Aiko, R. Kelly, Trey Songz, and Kendrick Lamar, who appears on the dark ballad “Autumn Leaves,” produced by B.A.M. and RoccStar.

A somber Breezy sings about the demise of a relationship: “Before I sleep I talk to God / He must be mad with me, it’s coming / I’m confused who I’ll spend my forever with.”

K-Dot shares words of wisdom on his introspective verse. “When you make mistakes the most, one day it will make you grow,” he raps.

“I picked Kendrick because his subject matter as a lyricist is beyond everybody else’s,” Chris told Rolling Stone. “There’s a substance to what he says.”

Chris Brown Opens Up About Jail, Rihanna, & Life Lessons

Chris Brown

In the past year, Chris Brown has shied away from the press. But in anticipation of his upcoming sixth album X on September 16, the R&B superstar broke his silence to Billboard in an exclusive interview.

While putting the finishing touches on X at Chalice Recording Studios in Hollywood, the “Loyal” singer opened up about life behind bars. He said that he did not write any songs while incarcerated (“Jail isn’t a place of many creative spirits”), and instead passed his time by drawing and sketching.

He described his 108 days in custody as a “humbling experience,” and learned to appreciate his loved ones (and even simple things like food).

He admitted that he has made mistakes, but doesn’t want to be defined by his troubled past. “I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can,” said Brown. “I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.”

Plus, find out what he had to say about his relationship with Rihanna and whether he considers himself a role model.

Over the Jahlil Beats production, Fab reps for the BK and Jada shouts out D-Block, but it’s Breezy’s verse that packs the most punch.

“Fresh up out the county, I done did a little bid / Let the po-pos run up on me, I won’t tell them coppers shit,” he raps, adding, “You keep talkin’ that shit, I’ll knock you out / A ni**a be pickin’ you up off of the ground for thinking you Tupac.”

Chris Brown Covers Billboard: ‘Maybe I Was Out of Control’

Chris Brown

As he gears up for the release of his sixth album X on September 16, Chris Brown graces the latest issue of Billboard. A blonde Breezy dons a fedora and bares his tatted chest on the cover, which includes the quote: “Maybe I was out of control.”

In his first post-jail interview, Brown speaks about X, life behind bars, Rihanna, and moving past his troubles.

“I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure,” he said.

“I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.”
