New Music: Dawn Richard f/ Eve – ‘Northern Lights (Remix)’

Eve gets her shine on on the official remix to Dawn Richard’s “Northern Lights.” The dance record, produced by Druski, appears on Dawn’s debut Goldenheart.

“Fill me with your passion, too much to measure/ Fill me with your light tonight, make it last forever/ Headed to the northern lights where we’ll shine forever,” raps E-V-E.

Dawn has returned the favor, guesting on “Keep Me From You” off Eve’s upcoming album Lip Lock, due May 14.

Dawn Richard Brings ‘Goldenheart’ to Hollywood

Dawn Richard’s L.A. Hearts got a special treat when the singer played a free show at Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Thursday. She signed copies of her debut Goldenheart and performed an improvised version of “Bombs,” showing off her butterfly back tattoo in a midriff-baring top.

“Pow! It all came together! Thanks Amoeba for having the GoldenheartExperience!” she tweeted.

Dawn shined during her show at L.A.’s famed Roxy on her “Goldenheart” tour earlier this week and will open for Ryan Leslie in Santa Ana on April 3. She is already back in the lab working on her next album, Blackheart, due this fall.

Dawn Richard Covers Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe’

Dawn Richard performed to a sold-out crowd at Yoshi’s in San Francisco last week during her Goldenheart tour. She delivered records off her debut including “’86″ and “Northern Lights,” and even threw in a cover or two.

Rocking long hair and a jumper, Dawn put her stamp on Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” mixing it with Dirty Money’s “Ass on the Floor.”

“Don’t let nobody kill your vibe tonight. Have a good time,” Dawn told the crowd.

She will play a show at The Roxy in L.A. on Tuesday. The person who buys the most tickets will win an iPod, signed Goldenheart album and poster, and backstage meet and greet. Get your tickets here.

New Music: Dawn Richard – ‘Bum Bum’

Dawn Richard shows her appreciation to her Hearts by giving them more unreleased material from her Goldenheart recording sessions. On the flirty “Bum Bum,” Dawn brings all the boys to the yard, but she’s not about to give up the goodies.

The upbeat record, produced and written with frequent collaborator Druski, plays off Dawn’s Haitian and New Orleans roots, sampling the New Orleans song “Iko Iko” and referencing Sister Nancy’s reggae hit “Bam Bam.”

Dawn is currently headlining the “Goldenheart” tour, which will stop at Yoshi’s in San Francisco on March 20 and The Roxy in L.A. on March 26. She is also hard at work on her second solo album Blackheart.

Solange, Kelis, Jill Scott, & Dawn Richard Celebrate Black Women in Music

It was ladies’ night at the 4th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Music event on Wednesday. The magazine honored Solange and British soul singer Lianne La Havas at an intimate celebration at Greystone Manor Supperclub in West Hollywood during Grammy week.

R&B’s leading ladies and some fresh faces including Kelis, Jill Scott, Dawn Richard, Tamia, Estelle, Leah LaBelle, and Bridget Kelly toasted their fellow females. Solange entertained with some new material off her EP True and was joined onstage by her collaborator Devonté “Dev” Hynes and Earth Wind & Fire’s Verdine White.

Their male counterparts including Tank, Bilal, and Eric Benét also came out to show their support.
