The Mona Lisa wasn’t the only work of art on display at the Louvre last night. Janet Jackson made history by becoming the first female pop artist to perform under the I.M.Pei glass Pyramid at Paris’ famed museum. Sporting long curly locks, the music icon performed a medley of her greatest hits, including “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” ”Miss You Much,” “Rhythm Nation,” and “Nasty,” causing the glass walls to shake. She also rubbed elbows with royalty including Prince Albert II of Monaco and actress Diane Kruger at the “Liaisons au Louvre II” charity gala dinner.

A smiling Janet Jackson, who turned 45 earlier this week, was resplendent in a long wine-colored skirt and loosely tied green top at the 18th Annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala held during the Cannes Film Festival at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France. The black-tie event, which included a cocktail reception, dinner, and live auction, attracted Gwen Stefani, Naomi Campbell, and a dapper Kanye West, who arrived on the arm of former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld. Janet Jackson Signs Books in L.A.

Janet Jackson promoted her New York Times No. 1 bestseller True You: A Guide to Finding and Loving Yourself with an in-store appearance at Book Soup in West Hollywood on Friday (April 15). Dressed in dark denim, knee-high boots, and a short-sleeve top, the cropped-haired superstar signed copies of her self-help book and posed for photos.

The night before, the pop icon performed at the Gibson Amphitheatre to a packed house. Her brother Jermaine and mother Katherine were in the audience, receiving a standing ovation when they entered.

Janet will play another show in L.A. tonight and one on Saturday. Her “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour” has been extended until the fall, with more North American dates to be announced.

Janet Jackson was back in black earlier today to sign copies of her New York Times No. 1 bestseller “True You: A Guide to Finding and Loving Yourself” at Barnes & Noble in New York City. The singer-turned-author, who performed the night prior at Radio City Music Hall, flashed a smile while posing with her first book release, looking sexy in a body-length jacket over black leather leggings and Christian Louboutin stiletto boots.

Ms. Jackson, who is currently on the U.S. leg of her “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal” tour, explained that she’s thrilled to connect with fans inspired by her self-help tome. “I am excited to share my story, and the lessons that I have learned on my journey to finding and loving myself. My tour is up close and personal and I can think of no better way to be close to my fans than to meet them at these book signings,” said the pop icon, who will also make a rare appearance to sign books at Los Angeles’ Book Soup on April 15.

Janet Jackson zoomed into the future during her first performance in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Wednesday (Feb. 9). The iconic pop star, dressed in a metallic body suit accented by knee-high stiletto boots, shoulder pads, and a high-waisted belt, opened the show with a medley of some of her biggest hits including “Pleasure Principle,” “Control,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” and “Feedback.”

Currently on her global “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour,” the sexy singer is also scheduled to appear in a candid interview with NBC’s Meredith Vieira. During the chat, Janet discusses her new book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself and touches on her difficult childhood, self-esteem issues, and her weight struggles.

“I would literally bang my head up against the wall because I didn’t feel attractive… There was a lot of pain in my life,” she revealed. “And I still have issues with it. I don’t bang my head up against the wall, but I still have those moments. And I think it’ll probably continue but at least I know how to deal with it now. And I’m in a much better space.”
