PEOPLE has revealed the first photo of new mom Jennifer Hudson with her son David, named after her fiancé, David Otunga. He was born August 10.

“I love being nurturing and caring because I love to see other people happy,” Hudson tells the magazine. “Who better to devote my time to than my own child?”

New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music was filled with D-listers, as in divas, as VH1 brought back its “VH1 Divas” telecast on Thursday (Sept. 17). The Paula Abdul-hosted show featured pairings of young divas with old-timers including Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder, Leona Lewis and Cyndi Lauper, Adele and India.Arie, and Jordin Sparks and Martina McBride. Toni Braxton and Keri Hilson were among the presenters.

Oprah threw a block party on Michigan Ave. to kick off Season 24 of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and invited thousands of her fellow Chicagoans. Jennifer Hudson and the Black Eyed Peas provided the entertainment. It was J-Hud’s first public appearance since giving birth to her son last month.

Jennifer Hudson tore up Rockefeller Plaza on the “Today” show concert series on Friday. She sang “Spotlight,” “Love You I Do,” “If This Isn’t Love,” and “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” with 19-year-old contest winner Melissa Goshinsky.

The bride-to-be also told Matt Lauer that she and fiancé David Otunga have set a date for their wedding, but she wouldn’t say when.

Ciara ran New York City at the 12th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women on Saturday. She was joined by Jennifer Connelly, Jessica Alba, Jimmy Fallon, and Jessica Biel in Times Square.

“Today I did an event with Revlon for fighting cancer,” she tweeted. “I got emotional…but it was a beautiful thing!”
