Blige’s set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend, Prince brought out his own special guest during his “Welcome 2 America” concert at Chicago’s United Center. Chi-town’s own Jennifer Hudson appeared on stage to duet with the pop icon on “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Looking stunning in a gold dress, the big-voiced diva brought the house down with her hair-raising rendition, which earned applause from Prince himself.

Jennifer Hudson Opens Up to Oprah About Family Murder

Jennifer Hudson sat down with Oprah Winfrey for the first time since a jury convicted William Balfour of murdering her mother, brother, and nephew in October 2008. During an interview at her Chicago penthouse overlooking Lake Michigan, the Oscar-winning actress opened up about the unthinkable tragedy and how she’s been dealing with it.

“It literally takes a part of you,” said J-Hud, who hasn’t been to the grave site since her family was buried. “I came back with justice being served. Now I feel like I deserve to be able to see them.”

She was also joined by her sister Julia and fiancé David Otunga, who spoke about their wedding plans. Plus, the mother of one discussed her dramatic weight loss and new clothing line, which launches this week on QVC.

Rick Ross isn’t the only boss. Jennifer Hudson calls the shots in the video for the first single from the soundtrack to Think Like a Man featuring Ne-Yo and the Miami rap Don. The Grammy-winning singer knows how to handle her business and still remain a lady, running her company and showing off her svelte figure as she dances with her all-female staff in heels. She thwarts off comedian Kevin Hart’s advances, but falls for Ne-Yo’s charm.

“The concept is derived from the film and the thought process is that women need to always act like a lady and be a woman, but think like a man, take up for yourself and be strong,” explained director Chris Robinson.

J-Hud praised her male co-stars. “Ne-Yo has got to be the greatest songwriter of our generation,” she said, “and Rick Ross has everything—the street, that swag, he can kinda give you Biggie.”

Yolanda Adams Pays Tribute to Whitney Houston at NAACP Image Awards

Whitney Houston’s presence was felt at the 43rd NAACP Image Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Friday night. Following a montage of the pop icon’s achievements, Yolanda Adams performed the gospel song “I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry.” “We love you, Nip,” said Adams, in reference to the singer’s childhood nickname.

Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo honored George Lucas by dueting on “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” while the filmmaker sang along in the audience.

Looking regal in red, Jill Scott had everyone counting their blessings as she performed the uplifting “So Blessed” off her album The Light of the Sun.

In the music categories, winners included Diggy Simmons (Outstanding New Artist), Cee Lo Green (Outstanding Male Artist), Jill Scott (Outstanding Female Artist), and Jennifer Hudson (Outstanding Album, Outstanding Music Video).
