Kid Cudi Steps Out to ‘Need for Speed’ Premiere

Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi is having a rager of a week. In addition to the top 5 debut of his album Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, the Cleveland rapper aka Scott Mescudi makes his big-screen debut in Need for Speed, which had its Hollywood premiere on Thursday.

Looking like a movie star in a floral-print blazer and leather pants, a clean-shaven Cudi pulled up to the red carpet in a red-hot Mustang.

He stars alongside “Breaking Bad’s” Aaron Paul in the action film, which opens March 14. “I fell in love with him right away,” he told Entertainment Weekly of his co-star. “You connect with people when you see a bit of yourself in them.”

Next up, the 30-year-old will play Ari Gold’s assistant in the upcoming Entourage movie.

A makeup-free Skylar Grey also hit the red carpet, showing off her tomboy style in rolled-up shorts, a trucker hat, and Y-3 sneakers.

Skylar has collaborated with Cudi on the Need for Speed end title song “Hero,” which is set to debut Tuesday.

Kid Cudi Chats with Gabourey Sidibe on ‘Chelsea Lately’

Kid Cudi

Following the surprise release of his album Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, Kid Cudi stopped by “Chelsea Lately” on Tuesday for a hilarious interview.

The Need for Speed star danced his way onto the set and sat down with Precious star Gabourey Sidibe, who was filling in for Chelsea. He discussed attending an Oscar after-party and leaving early because he was having an anxiety attack.

“Some of them have their heads so far up their own ass,” he said.

He also shared why he became a rapper and how he came up with his hit “Day ‘N’ Nite” while working a security job.

“It was a lonely time for me, but I used it to create and find myself as an artist,” explained Cudi.

Need for Speed opens in theaters March 14, while Satellite Flight debuts at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this week.

Kid Cudi Reveals ‘Satellite Flight’ Cover, Tracklisting

Satellite Flight

Kid Cudi has unveiled the cover art and tracklisting for his album Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon. The digital edition includes 10 tracks, with an appearance from Raphael Saadiq (“Balmain Jeans”).

“This is just the digital release track listing,” tweeted Cudi, who designed the cover himself. “New jams will be added for the physical, kind of like a extended ‘Directors Cut’!”

The Need for Speed star didn’t announce an exact release date, but previously said that it would drop sometime in February.

Satellite Flight, which includes production from Dot Da Genius, serves as a prelude to Man on the Moon 3.

“It’s all attached to the story,” he explained. “When Man on the Moon 3 comes out, you’ll be able to play this EP and segue into Man on the Moon 3. It will be a seamless connection.”
