Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea, & Childish Gambino Perform at mtvU Woodie Awards

Rap superstars and indie bands converged in Austin, Texas to celebrate the 10th annual mtvU Woodie Awards during SXSW. Lil Wayne kicked off the 35-minute show by performing a verse from “A Milli” and a new freestyle.

“Tonight, we here to celebrate the theme of my life, and that’s music,” said Weezy.

Following an introduction from Danny Brown and Steve Aoki, Iggy Azalea rocked a Clueless-inspired getup while performing her latest single “Fancy” with Charli XCX as balloons and confetti filled the stage.

Childish Gambino capped off the show with an electrifying set, entering from the back of the venue covered in LED lights. Accompanied by a marching band, he performed a medley of “3005″ and “Sweatpants.”

Drake won the Woodie of the Year, which Lil Wayne accepted on his behalf. “Cannot be more fu**in’ happier for my man Drizzy,” said Weezy.

Other winners included Beyoncé (Did It My Way Woodie), Chance the Rapper (Best Video Woodie), Ed Sheeran (Performing Woodie), and A$AP Rocky and Skrillex (Best Collaboration Woodie).

Video: Chris Brown f/ Lil Wayne & Tyga – ‘Loyal’ [Teaser]

While Chris Brown remains in custody, he’s shared a brief teaser from his “Loyal” music video. The dance-heavy clip was shot at Universal CityWalk last month and co-stars Lil Wayne and Tyga.

“Chris Brown’s ‘Loyal’ should be dropping next week,” he tweeted on Thursday.

While French Montana and Too $hort appear on the East and West Coast single versions, Tyga is featured on the video edit of the song.

Chris and Tyga have also been working on their collaborative album Fan of a Fan, which is already halfway done and will drop after Chris’ X and Tyga’s The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty.

“We got 10 singles right now ready to go, but it’s just really about timing, man, because I don’t wanna confuse the people,” Tyga told MTV News.

Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea Invade the Stage at mtvU Woodie Awards

From Beyoncé to The 1975, mtvU celebrated the music college students love at the 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards during SXSW in Austin, Texas, on Thursday. The show, which was taped before a live audience, featured performances from Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea, Childish Gambino, and more.

Tunechi surprised the crowd by kicking off the show with a freestyle and a verse from “A Milli,” leading into the evening’s first performers, The 1975.

Wiz Khalifa presented Drake with the night’s biggest honor, Woodie of the Year, which his Young Money boss Weezy accepted on his behalf.

Following an introduction from Danny Brown and Steve Aoki, Iggy Azalea had the audience on its feet with a Clueless-inspired performance of “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX.

Childish Gambino closed out the show. After entering from the back of the venue covered in LED lights, the rapper-actor led a marching band to the stage, where he performed a medley of “3005″ and “Sweatpants.”

Beyoncé won the first-ever Did It My Way Woodie, Chance the Rapper took home Best Video Woodie, and A$AP Rocky and Skrillex picked up the Best Collaboration Woodie.

The 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards will air on Sunday, March 16, at 8 p.m. on MTV. See a full list of winners below.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Tyga Reunite On Set of ‘Senile’ Video

After yesterday’s bizarre sneak peek with Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj has shared more photos from the set of “Senile.” Young Money’s First Lady reunited with Weezy and Tyga in L.A. to shoot a video for the David D.A. Doman-produced single off the Rise of an Empire compilation.

The rap vixen rocked the hell out of a sexy leather Moschino bustier and panties—complete with gold chains, locks, and fishnet stockings—from Jeremy Scott’s fall 2014 collection.

“@moschino Fresh off the runway with custom made panties to fit my big fat ego…. lol,” wrote Nicki.

The busty Barb was also joined by other members of her YMCMB family including Birdman, Mack Maine, and Euro.
