The holiday season officially got underway when Mariah Carey touched down in New York City for NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center.” Dressed in red, the pop diva opened with her classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” joined by dancing children and even Santa Claus.

After changing into a silver gown, she performed her new holiday single “Christmas Time Is in the Air Again” as snow began to fall.

“Merry Christmas and to all a good night,” said Mariah before the tree lighting ceremony.

No one does Christmas quite like Mariah Carey. The pop diva kicked off the holiday season in New York City for a taping of NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” on Tuesday.

An angelic Mimi bared the freezing temps in a sparkly silver gown as she sang her new holiday single “Christmas Time Is in the Air Again.” She got dolled up in a short red dress for her classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” on which she was joined by special guest Santa Claus. But while fellow “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson joined the festivities, Mariah left Dem Babies at home because it was just too cold.

The annual holiday special, which airs tonight at 8 p.m., also features performances from CeeLo Green, Rod Stewart, and Victoria Justice.

Mariah Carey puckered up to her husband Nick Cannon at the 2012 TeenNick HALO Awards at the Hollywood Palladium last night. The pop diva was in the house to support her man along with his mother, a dapper Swizz Beatz, and Ne-Yo, who hit the stage for a performance. The HALO Awards (Helping and Leading Others) recognize teens who make a difference in their communities. The show will air Monday at 8 p.m. on Nick@Nite.

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are putting their differences aside and teaming up to find the next superstar. The dueling divas appear in the first promo for the new season of “American Idol.” The 30-second trailer includes brief clips of them at the judges’ table with fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban.

“My hair is edible,” a pink-haired Nicki is heard saying.

The 12th season of the singing competition kicks off January 16 on FOX.

Mariah Carey celebrates Barack Obama’s victory with “Bring It On Home,” which she penned for the re-elected president. The pop diva performed the inspiring song at a fundraiser for Obama over the summer, and now Jermaine Dupri has released the real studio version.

Mimi took to Twitter to share her happiness over Obama’s win. “Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha. We love you!” she tweeted.

The holidays are always a special time in the Cannon household. The festive family celebrated Halloween by dressing up as Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Mariah rocked pigtails and a short yellow dress as Goldilocks, while Nick was Papa Bear. Their twins Monroe and Moroccan were cute as can be in their own baby bear costumes. Last year, they dressed as The Incredibles from Disney’s animated movie. Now that’s one adorable family!

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are all smiles in a new promo photo for “American Idol.” The dueling divas put their feud aside and join fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, for the glamorous snapshot.

Mimi is elegant in a long black gown, while a blonde Nicki shows off her playful style, linking arms with Seacrest and Urban.

“New shot with the americanidol gang,” tweeted Seacrest.

Although her “American Idol” gig continues to grab headlines, Mariah Carey is actively back in the studio working on her next album. She reunited with The-Dream this week, sharing a photo with her Lambs on Twitter.

“Living The-American-Dream pon de studio,” tweeted Mimi, rocking a pair of hot pink leggings and a black tank top as The-Dream hid his face behind a fan of money.

The two previously worked together on her 2009 album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel including the singles “Obsessed” and “H.A.T.E.U.” The-Dream is now Executive Vice President of A&R at Mariah’s label, Def Jam Records.

Mariah seems to be recruiting plenty of big names for her next project. The pop diva was in the lab with R. Kelly during her trip to Chicago last month and enlisted Rick Ross and Meek Mill for her single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).”
