Rap-Up TV: Jhené Aiko Praises Nicki Minaj’s ‘Lookin Ass’

While she may have offended some men with her vicious lyrics, Nicki Minaj’s “Lookin Ass Ni**a” has struck a chord with her female fans including Jhené Aiko. The L.A. songstress has shared her support for Nicki’s male-bashing anthem.

“I love it. I love the song,” she told Rap-Up TV. “It’s definitely a song to put on with my friends when we’re hating all the men in our lives, which is often. I love when she raps. … You don’t really see what she’s shooting at [in the video], but it’s powerful. I like it.”

Jhené would love to collaborate with Nicki, but in the meantime, she is working on her full-length debut Souled Out. Her 2013 EP Sail Out debuted in the top 10, which caught her and her label Def Jam by surprise.

“I think everyone was surprised. I literally put that out because I didn’t want to have nothing out in 2013,” she explained. “No one was really on board like that, we were just like whatever ’cause me and my camp we do stuff on our own time anyway. And we showed them, ‘See, they like it.’”

The album, due this summer, will include “Promises,” a collaboration with her daughter Namiko Love.

New Music: Trey Songz – ‘Look at Ya’ll’ (Nicki Minaj Response)

Trey Songz

Instead of penning a love song this Valentine’s Day, Trey Songz is putting bitches on blast. The R&B heartthrob has recorded a scathing response to Nicki Minaj male-bashing single “Lookin’ Ass Ni**a,” on which he takes aim at the groupies and gold diggers.

“Look at ya’ll worn out, whored out, slored out, pu**y walls tore out, all ya’ll bitches,” raps a relentless Trey on the three-minute freestyle.

But the dignified women shouldn’t feel offended. “No disrespect at all to my women that are ladies that carry themselves unlike these bitches,” he explains.

Nicki Minaj Apologizes for Controversial Malcolm X Cover Art

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj has come under fire over the artwork for her latest song “Lookin Ass Ni**a.” The Young Money rapper was criticized for using an image of Malcolm X on the cover. The original photo, which was published in Ebony magazine in 1964, shows the civil rights leader holding an M1 carbine and looking out the window.

Twitter and Instagram were flooded with comments, deeming the cover disrespectful and offensive. “I’ve never in my life seen a black artist openly disrespect Malcolm x like nicki minaj just did. And don’t tell me I’m being sensitive,” commented @_chukwuweike.

Following the backlash, Nicki issued an apology on Instagram. She claims the artwork was never official and that she did not intend to undermine Malcolm X’s legacy.

“I am in the video shooting at Lookin Ass Niggaz and there happened to be an iconic photo of Malcolm X ready to do the same thing for what he believed in!!!!” explained Nicki. “It is in no way to undermine his efforts and legacy. I apologize to the Malcolm X estate if the meaning of the photo was misconstrued.”

“Lookin Ass Ni**a” is set to appear on Nicki’s upcoming album The Pink Print and the Young Money compilation, Rise of an Empire.
