Nelly links up with Nicki Minaj and Pharrell on his brand new single “Get Like Me,” produced by Pharrell. The drum-patterned track, reminiscent of a classic Neptunes production, is set to appear on Nelly’s upcoming album M.O.
Fresh off her collabos with Wale, Ciara, Mario, and Busta Rhymes, Nicki keeps the momentum going, adding a playful verse. “Bon voyage, Nicki M. Baby, Buns Minaj/ Back of the ‘Bach slumpty, Humpty Dumpty/ On the back of the bike, these stunts be comfy,” she raps.
Pharrell adds his golden touch to the hook, singing in his raspy voice, while Nelly talks slick over the thumping beat.
M.O. is due later this year featuring appearances from Nelly Furtado, Trey Songz, T.I., and Wiz Khalifa.
Pharrell is all over the charts with “Blurred Lines” and “Get Lucky,” and now he adds his golden touch to the big screen with Despicable Me 2, in theaters July 3. The Neptunes hitmaker produced the soundtrack to the animated film with composer Heitor Pereira.
He is also featured on four upbeat songs including “Happy” and the title track. CeeLo Green guests on the Pharrell-produced “Scream” and there are several appearances from the loveable Minions.
“I think there was a real determination for the through-line and synthesis for this to be a cohesive body of work, and not just songs that contribute to the film,” said Pharrell.

Robin Thicke celebrated his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Clad in a black suit, the R&B crooner performed his hit “Blurred Lines” with some help from Pharrell on Thursday’s show. Miley Cyrus and Leah LaBelle danced onstage during the lively set, which was taped from the Myspace event the prior night.
Kimmel also remade the famous NSFW video, but his version was not quite as sexy or cool as the original. In the “unedited” clip, the talk show host and his sidekick Guillermo crash the set, dancing alongside the models in matching outfits just like Thicke and Pharrell’s. Pharrell eventually breaks a chair over Kimmel’s head, while Guillermo gets down in his metallic suit.
“I think Guillermo wore it better @jimmykimmel,” joked Pharrell.
Myspace gathered some of its famous friends and celebrated its relaunch with a star-studded party at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
Looking sharp in a black-and-blue tuxedo, Pharrell entertained the crowd of celebrities and techies with his hits and new material including “Happy.” He brought out Robin Thicke to perform their No. 1 hit “Blurred Lines” as Leah LaBelle and Miley Cyrus danced onstage.
“Big bro killed it tonight @Pharrell,” tweeted Miley, who worked with Pharrell on her upcoming album.
Tyler, the Creator also joined his idol onstage, tweeting about the moment. “WOW TODAY WAS SO AWESOME OMG,” he said.
Myspace co-owner Justin Timberlake grabbed a front row seat to watch the festivities, showing love to his peers. “Shout out to @robinthicke for playing tonight!” he said, adding, “@fucktyler I LOVE this kid.”
Other stars in attendance included JoJo, Melody Thornton, and Asher Roth.
Not only is Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” a hit in the U.S., it’s an even bigger smash overseas. The blue-eyed crooner headed across the pond with Pharrell to perform their collaboration on “The Graham Norton Show” on Friday.
The dapper fellas put on a sexy show with three models, who pretended to do background vocals. The audience clapped along as Pharrell pulled actress Hayden Panettiere on stage to dance with them.
The song has become the fastest-selling single of the year in the U.K., moving 190,000 copies in its first week on sale.
Thicke’s sixth album Blurred Lines is due July 30.

2 Chainz earned a No. 1 debut and a Grammy nomination for his breakthrough album Based on a T.R.U. Story. But the in-demand rapper is not slowing down. Fresh off his performance at Summer Jam on Sunday, the Hairweave Killer returns with the Pharrell-assisted “Feds Watching,” the first single off his sophomore album.
The Atlanta rapper boasts about his fashion game (“Mr. Comme des Garçons, Mr. Alexander Wang”) and come-up (“grams to Grammys”), while The Neptunes producer provides the slinky hook.
“I’ma be fresh as hell if the feds watching/ Drop top, head boppin’,” raps 2 Chainz on the catchy chorus.
The song is now available on iTunes, while his album arrives September 10.
