Rap-Up TV: Machine Gun Kelly Goes to Work with Meek Mill and Pusha T on ‘Peso’

2013 marks the return of Machine Gun Kelly. While he released his debut album Lace Up in October, it was missing the fire that made him want to rap in the first place.

“MGK is just professional, bland—there’s no soul or substance in him,” the Cleveland MC told Rap-Up TV on set of French Montana’s “Ocho Cinco” video. “As a personality, Machine Gun Kelly is back. That’s that motherfu**er that doesn’t give two fu**s of a f**k about anything or anyone.”

You can expect to hear Machine Gun Kelly on his upcoming mixtape, due next month. The first single will be “Peso” featuring Meek Mill and Pusha T.

“It’s a joint that makes you want to get up and go to work,” he said of the track, which samples Aloe Blacc’s “I Need a Dollar.”

Machine Gun Kelly was recently in the studio with his pal Wiz Khalifa. While he originally went there to smoke, they ended up recording for the mixtape.

“I felt like I nearly got dropped from my label and felt this hunger that I hadn’t had in a long time, and I just put it in words,” explained MGK, who is still signed to Bad Boy/Interscope. “I felt like I wasn’t a problem in the game yet, and now I feel like, ‘God damn.’ I’m so fu*king stoked on this tape.”

New Music: Pusha T f/ Wale – ‘Only You Can Tell It’

Pusha T and Wale

With only a day to go until his mixtape Wrath of Caine drops, Pusha T gives away one last song via Billboard. G.O.O.D. Music’s street orator joins forces with Maybach Music’s Wale on the Boogz Da Beast-produced “Only You Can Tell It.” The DMV rappers trade rhymes about the rap game over a sped-up sample.

“It’s really good because we’re both from the DMV area,” Pusha told Miss Info of collaborating with Wale. “He’s known for his poetry and him just getting real deep, so me and him just collaborated on a record. It’s just like, it’s near and dear to me cause he’s from the area.”

Video: Pusha T – ‘Wrath of Caine’ [Trailer]

Wrath of Caine

Money, power, and drugs. Pusha T paints a gritty picture with the second trailer for his upcoming mixtape Wrath of Caine. The powerful clip features footage of the war on drugs and sound bites from former presidents Reagan and Bush.

Pusha is making no apologies for his brash sound. “I like to think my music has a lot of perspective too even though people might not think so,” he told The Village Voice. “More than anything it’s about showcasing who I am. Even in [Clipse] I was more the brash young, unapologetic rapper.”

The G.O.O.D. Music MC is nominated for two Grammys this year for “Mercy.” “It’d be fresher if I was nominated for my own song,” he laughed. “Nah, I’ve never been apart of something like this so I’m happy to be a part of it. It’s something… It’s great for G.O.O.D. Music.”

So who does Pusha think is the best rapper right now? “Jay-Z. No wait. I take that back. André 3000 is my favorite rapper right now,” he said.
