Rihanna had her cake and ate it too. After taking a stroll on the beach with Chris Brown earlier in the day, the birthday girl, who turned 25, celebrated at a private house party in Oahu with her closest friends and family.
She was all smiles as she cuddled up with her boyfriend Breezy. The couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other while posing for a series of Polaroid pics, which she later posted on Instagram. Her BFF Melissa and brother Rorrey Fenty also joined the party.
“#phuckyoballoons ha! My birthday owned hoes,” wrote RiRi, who was presented with a Rasta-colored cake that said “One Love” in honor of her idol Bob Marley, which ended up in her face.
“Put this #cake in ya face! I made him lick all this icing off! Lol” she said.
The wild night ended with her getting lei’d. “Got the #goyard and getting lei’d at the same damn time.”
Rihanna is having the best 25th birthday ever. After announcing her cosmetics deal with MAC, the singer woke up to celebrate in paradise. She spent the day on the island of Oahu with Chris Brown by her side. The couple took a romantic stroll on the beach while holding hands and were seen making out.
“Pour it up pour it up! #birthdaybehavior,” tweeted the birthday girl.
She also found out that her single “Stay” had shot up the charts. “#epic day already, I woke up to sunshine in paradise and #STAY done jumped 54 spots to #3 on the BillboardHot100!!”
Her BFF Melissa also joined the couple in Hawaii. “Wasted,” she tweeted along with a pic of her and RiRi in the back of a car.
Emeli Sandé has been winning over fans and critics alike with her acclaimed debut Our Version of Events. During her U.S. tour, Rap-Up TV caught up with the breakout British sensation at her MySpace ChapStick Sessions concert at the Key Club in L.A. The 25-year-old, who is nominated four times at the BRIT Awards, spoke about the transition from the U.K. to the U.S. and writing for superstars like Rihanna and Alicia Keys.
Emeli penned “Half of Me,” which appears on the deluxe edition of Rihanna’s album Unapologetic. “When I heard it, you can really feel that she has connected to the track. I love how she’s interpreted it and made it completely her own,” said Emeli, who met the pop star during a visit to L.A. “She was really sweet, really cool.”
She also ended up writing with Alicia Keys after opening for her at Royal Albert Hall in London. “She’s such a big inspiration,” said Emeli, who co-penned “Brand New Me” and “Not Even the King.” “That was a dream come true. We really connected as people as well as musicians, so it just worked and it doesn’t always work like that.”
The U.K. darling is already plotting her sophomore album and plans to hit the studio after touring in May. “I think about the next record every day. Can’t wait to get back and write again.”
She also shared her love for American rappers including Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Drake. “His lyrics are mind blowing. I really love how he words everything,” she said of the Young Money MC.
Right now, Emeli is basking in her four BRIT nominations. “The hard work this year has paid off and to have that acknowledgement feels wonderful.”
Not only can you dress like Rihanna, now you can wear her makeup too. After designing a clothing line for British retailer River Island, the 25-year-old singer has landed an unprecedented deal with MAC for her own line of cosmetics.
Rihanna is known for her trendsetting fashion, and now you too can own a piece of it. The pop star debuted her first fashion collection, Rihanna for River Island, during London Fashion Week on Saturday. After kicking off the show an hour late, models strut down the runway to Memphis Bleek’s “Do My…,” A$AP Rocky’s “Fuckin’ Problems,” and RiRi’s own, “Phresh Out the Runway.”
Wearing a black dress from her line, the fashion darling took a bow during the finale as the crowd cheered her on.
In an interview with Elle, RiRi explained that her goal was “to design for all body shapes and when women have a fat day and want to hide bits of their bodies.”
Following the show, she hit up the after party with model Cara Delevingne and her BFF Melissa. “And just like that these bitches is my sons #RihannaForRiverIsland #LONDONfashionweek,” tweeted RiRi.
Rihanna for River Island will be available in select River Island stores and online on March 5. Watch the runway show below.
Rihanna strips down in the vulnerable video for “Stay,” the second single off her seventh album Unapologetic. A makeup-free RiRi, who just won her seventh Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video at last night’s awards, soaks in a bathtub while singing the emotional ballad.
“The video was really, really simple. I pretty much stayed put in a bathtub and we shot it really tight,” she told Ryan Seacrest of the Sophie Muller-directed clip (Beyoncé, No Doubt).
The video co-stars Mikky Ekko, who penned the song. “I kinda fell in love with the tone of his voice so we wanted to keep him a part of it,” she said of the Nashville singer-songwriter.
Bob Marley received a star-studded tribute at Sunday’s Grammy Awards. Bruno Mars kicked things off with “Locked Out of Heaven” before being joined by the legendary Sting. Rihanna helped them pay homage to her idol with a cover of “Is This Love” along with Marley’s two sons Ziggy and Damian. The crowd including Taylor Swift and Chris Brown rose to its feet and sang along as they closed out their feel-good set.
