Nas pours out some “Cherry Wine” and remembers his friend Amy Winehouse in his latest music video. The hip-hop legend works as a bartender in a lounge as footage of the late soulstress flashes against a brick wall. The Jay Martin-directed clip marks the fifth video from Nas’ Life Is Good album, which debuted at No. 1 in July.

“Amy was just one of a kind. We just clicked like that. May she rest in peace,” Nas told Rap-Up TV. “She’s watching us, she’s holding me down and I’m holding her down here. It’s just love forever.”

Nas will ring in 2013 with a concert at Radio City Music Hall in his hometown of New York City on New Year’s Eve, with opening act Elle Varner. Tickets are on sale now.

In honor of his and Amy Winehouse’s shared birthday, Nas releases a 30-second trailer of his video for “Cherry Wine.” The dapper rapper plays a bartender in a lounge, while footage of his late duet partner flashes against a brick wall. Shanell pays tribute to the late Amy Winehouse with “Love Is a Losing Game,” the only cover included on her mixtape Nobody’s Bitch. Prior to her passing, the Young Money singer expressed her admiration for the British soulstress.

“I love the way she sings these great conceptual songs, but it has some hip-hop element to it,” Shanell previously told Rap-Up.com. “Her attitude is just so funky, but she’s singing songs as though she’s this straight narrow singer.”

With just days to go before his 10th album Life Is Good arrives in stores, Nas caught up with Rap-Up TV at the ESPYS to discuss collaborating with his late friend Amy Winehouse on “Cherry Wine.”

“Amy was just one of a kind. We just clicked like that. May she rest in peace,” said the hip-hop icon. “She’s watching us, she’s holding me down and I’m holding her down here. It’s just love forever.”

He also had a message for those jumping on the Frank Ocean bandwagon following the singer’s revelation about his sexuality. “Everybody’s getting excited about records for the wrong reason,” said Nas, who collaborated with the Odd Future member on the lost song “No Such Thing as White Jesus.” “Listen to the music. The music is number one.”

Amy Winehouse makes a triumphant return to the charts. The late singer’s posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures debuts in the top 5 this week.

Nas duets with his late friend Amy Winehouse on the Salaam Remi-produced “Like Smoke.” The two struck up a friendship after Amy name checked Nas on Back to Black‘s “Me & Mr Jones.”

“You know how me and Amy are, straight players,” raps the Queens MC on the retro-soul number, which was recorded in May 2008.

Their collaboration can be found on the soulstress’ posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures, due December 5.
