New Music: Amy Winehouse f/ Nas – ‘Like Smoke’

Nas duets with his late friend Amy Winehouse on the Salaam Remi-produced “Like Smoke.” The two struck up a friendship after Amy name checked Nas on Back to Black‘s “Me & Mr Jones.”

“You know how me and Amy are, straight players,” raps the Queens MC on the retro-soul number, which was recorded in May 2008.

Their collaboration can be found on the soulstress’ posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures, due December 5.

JoJo Covers Amy Winehouse [Video]

JoJo paid tribute to Amy Winehouse by covering “You Know I’m No Good,” a cut off the late soulstress’ classic album Back to Black, during her free show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit on Sunday night. Seated beside her guitarist, the big-voiced songstress tore the roof off the house with a compelling acoustic interpretation that would make Amy proud.

Video: Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse – ‘Body and Soul’

On what would have been her 28th birthday, Tony Bennett releases the video for his duet with the late Amy Winehouse. The soothing jazz tune, which will appear on Bennett’s star-studded album Duets II (Sept. 20), is said to be the singer’s last completed recording before she passed away in July and serves as a lasting tribute to her tremendous talent.

The clip, comprised of footage from their recording sessions in March at Abbey Road Studios in London, was filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe (Chicago).

“We had a beautiful time recording together in the studio and I knew that Amy was very happy with how she performed that day,” said Bennett. “I thought she was absolutely brilliant and this recording truly captures the essence of her unique artistry. She was a rare talent.”

Proceeds from the song and video, both available on iTunes, will benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Amy Winehouse’s star continues to shine. The late singer reminds us of her one-of-a-kind talent while performing “Body and Soul,” her duet with Tony Bennett, at Abbey Road Studios in London.

A 30-second clip of the video, which was filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe (Chicago), shows the two dueting on the jazzy tune, her last completed recording. The full song and video will premiere Wednesday, on what would have been Amy’s 28th birthday.

“Body and Soul” is one of 17 collaborations on Bennett’s album Duets II, due September 20.

Amy Winehouse Speaks on Dream Duet with Tony Bennett [Video]

Before her untimely death, Amy Winehouse lived out a dream of working with the legendary Tony Bennett on a remake of his record “Body and Soul.” The jazz standard, her last completed song, was recorded in March at London’s Abbey Road Studios and will appear on Bennett’s 85th birthday album Duets II, due September 20.

The late singer shows a funnier side in the preview clip, asking the interviewer if she can call Bennett “Ton” and imitating her father Mitch.

She recalls when her dad asked her if she knew “Body and Soul,” his favorite Bennett song. “He was like, ‘Do you even know it?’ And I’m like, ‘Of course I know it, Mitchell.’ I’m your daughter. Of course I know it.”

The full video and song will premiere September 14. Proceeds will benefit The Amy Winehouse Foundation, providing support for young people suffering from substance and alcohol abuse.
