Azealia Banks Covers Groove Theory, Performs ‘ATM Jam’ at BBC 1Xtra Live

Azealia Banks brought her racks, racks, racks to BBC 1Xtra Live 2013 in London on Thursday. Dressed in a rose-covered outfit, Yung Rapunxel opened her 20-minute set with “ATM Jam” and performed her EP and mixtape cuts including “1991,” “Liquorice,” and “Esta Noche.”

She also showed off her singing chops with a cover of Groove Theory’s “Tell Me” (6:50 mark).

“Let’s fuck it up, ya’ll,” said Banks before closing with her hit “212.”

Her video for “ATM Jam” featuring Pharrell will premiere on Oct. 14.

“Don’t cross the vision,” she warns.

Her video for “ATM Jam” featuring Pharrell will premiere on Oct. 14, while her debut Broke With Expensive Taste is due early next year.

While we await her debut Broke With Expensive Taste, Azealia Banks breaks us off with another jam. The feisty femcee slings some slick bars alongside fellow Harlemite Akhet on the spastic “Blown Away.”

“All you girls think you’re legendary, bitch it’s more like sedentary,” raps Banks.

Her album doesn’t drop until early next year, but she is already plotting the follow-up. Last month, she released “Count Contessa,” the first offering from her sophomore LP Fantasea II: The Second Wave, due in July.

New Music: Azealia Banks – ‘Count Contessa’

Azealia Banks hasn’t even released her debut, but she’s already working on her next album. Yung Rapunxel unleashes “Count Contessa” as the first offering from her sophomore album Fantasea II: The Second Wave. The project even has a release date of July 11, 2014.

“It’s a song about a woman with a man’s physical strength. Like, literally. Hahaaa,” said the Harlem rapper of the Lone-produced track. “Count Contessa was a Dyke who won the fist fight with Muscle Mike.”

Her debut Broke With Expensive Taste is due early next year. “SODA,” produced by SCNTST, will serve as the follow-up single to “ATM Jam.”

Azealia Banks Channels Sailor Moon in ‘ATM Jam’ Video

Azealia Banks dreams up a pink and purple fantasy in the video for her Pharrell-assisted single “ATM Jam.” Following the dark visuals for “Yung Rapunxel,” the Harlem rap diva steps into a whimsical world in the Clarence Fuller-directed clip (“Luxury”).

The 22-year-old channels Japanese manga character Sailor Moon, or “Sailor Goon” as she calls her, while wearing a sailor’s outfit. She relaxes by her pink pool and overlooks the Hollywood Hills, which have been turned purple.

Earlier this week, Azealia revealed the tracklisting for her upcoming debut Broke With Expensive Taste, which is due next year.

Tracklisting: Azealia Banks – ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’

Azealia Banks’ debut Broke With Expensive Taste doesn’t arrive until next year, but she has already revealed the tracklisting. The Harlem rapper posted a handwritten note on Instagram with the 16 tracks including the hit single “212,” “Yung Rapunxel,” and the Pharrell-assisted “ATM Jam,” with appearances from Theophilus London, Toko Yasuda, and Kevin Hussein.

It took her three years to finish the album. “I was totally bluffing when 212 blew up. I literally had NO other material and didn’t know if I even knew how to make a body of work,” tweeted Azealia. “I did it! This is such a feat! creating a body of work has been my secret battle with myself since 17.”

She is already working on her second album, Fantasea II, and plans to drop a single from that before Broke With Expensive Taste is released.

Azealia Banks Gets Loud at Lovebox

Azealia Banks brought her bold style and rhymes to London’s Lovebox on Friday. After playing Glastonbury, T in the Park, and the Governors Ball, the Harlem rap diva unleashed Yung Rapunxel in Victoria Park. She rocked an electric green bodysuit, showing off her thong through a cutout, while delivering an energetic set.

“IM QUEEN OF THE FESTIVAL,” proclaimed Azealia. “I did literally EVERY important European festival this summer., but I like to believe that LOVEBOX 2013 is especially for me!”

Her debut Broke with Expensive Taste is almost done. “MY ALBUM IS COMINGGGGG IN THE FALLLL !!!!!!!!” she tweeted.

D’Angelo will take the stage today and Lil’ Kim will help close out the festival on Sunday.
