Video: Big Boi – ‘The Train, Pt. 2 (Sir Lucious Left Foot Saves the Day)’

Big Boi may have only released his debut solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty in July, but he’s been working on visuals for the project as far back as 2008. The OutKast member shot the video for album cut “The Train, Pt. 2 (Sir Lucious Left Foot Saves the Day)” during his special performance with the Atlanta Ballet in 2008, waiting a few years to put out the visuals. In the clip, cameras follow the ATLien as he preps for the gig, later taking the stage to perform the funky joint with dancers and guests Janelle Monáe and Sleepy Brown. Keri Hilson and Big Boi ‘Get Schooled’

Keri Hilson and Big Boi

Keri Hilson and Big Boi stressed the importance of education to students at Chicago’s Collins Academy High School during Thursday’s Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour. Miss Keri, accessorized with her No Boys Allowed necklace, performed “Knock You Down” and offered her advice to the youth.

“I think the key to making it through high school and life in general is knowing what’s important, attacking that, and executing everything,” said Keri, a former co-captain of her high school basketball team.

Big Boi was pursuing his education before OutKast blew up. “Before I started doing music, I was actually planning on going to school to study child psychology, but when I was in eleventh grade we went platinum,” shared Sir Lucious. “I still finished and graduated with honors.”

OutKast’s Big Boi is the latest star to get his own episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” reminiscing on the days when he matriculated at a performing arts school. High school friends including Cee Lo Green reflect on his unique style (though his OutKast partner André 3000 was always one step ahead), while Sir Lucious Left Foot shares stories from his time spent working at Foot Locker. Big Boi Announces Dates for ‘Son of Chico Dusty’ Tour

Since the release of Big Boi’s first album sans Andre 3000, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in July, the OutKast member has been on a steady performance run. From discussing current events during a rapper roundtable on “Chelsea Lately” to commanding the stage on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” the ATLien is promoting his new opus in a number of ways. Now, Big Boi can reach the masses on a more personal level as he embarks on a U.S. tour, appropriately titled “Son of Chico Dusty.”

Video: Big Boi Leads the Way on ‘Letterman’

Atlanta native Big Boi kept it all the way funky during his performance on Monday evening’s “Late Show with David Letterman.” The OutKast member, backed by Purple Ribbon recording group Vonnegutt, gave a rousing rendition of his hit “Follow Us,” the latest single off his recently released solo debut Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Sporting baggy jeans, a black t-shirt and a snow white furry hat that nearly covered his shades, he doled out rapid fire rhymes over record scratches, trumpet blasts and guitar power chords, capping the performance with a shout out to his Twitter page. It’s about time to heed his instructions and follow him.
