Big Boi Teams Up with Daughter at Label Launch

Big Boi’s daughter Jordan Patton is following in her father’s musical footsteps. For her 16th birthday, the OutKast rapper gave her her own label Purple Ribbon Kidz to which she will sign and develop the next superstars. The father and daughter celebrated the launch with a party at Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta over the weekend. The first signee, 13-year-old YouTube discovery Gabbie Rae, performed along with teen acts Audio (formerly B5), Cypress, and Von Grey.

“She just has an ear for music,” the proud papa told Atlanta’s 11 Alive. “She listens to everything ’cause I listen to everything.”

Big Boi Takes It to the MAX at SXSW

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival kicked off with a bang from Big Boi. The ATLien captivated hipsters and hip-hop heads alike at the Pepsi MAX and foursquare concert on Monday, performing his OutKast hits including “Ms. Jackson,” “So Fresh, So Clean,” and solo material onstage in Austin, Texas.

“It’s always a pleasure. This is like my third, fourth time down here and it’s like the whole indie scene and just really a lot of hipsters, a lot of cool kids. It’s the place where the cool people come and hang out,” said Big Boi.

Fans who unlocked a Golden Ticket Badge with foursquare got exclusive access to see the Grammy winner, along with Locksley and The Sounds.

Big Boi, B.o.B, & Janelle Monáe Celebrate with Their Grammy Family

B.o.B, Janelle Monáe, and Big Boi

B.o.B, Janelle Monáe, and Big Boi smiled for a Grammy portrait at the Atlanta Chapter Grammy nominee reception at the W Atlanta Downtown yesterday. The trio celebrated their nods with fellow nominees Kelly Price and Musiq Soulchild, posing with a giant gold gramophone. Bobby Ray and Janelle, along with Bruno Mars, are scheduled to perform at next month’s ceremony in Los Angeles.

If B.o.B wins in one of the five categories he’s nominated for, he plans to celebrate in a big way. “I see myself holding an armful of Grammys and everybody turning them sideways to pour a drink in them and toasting with the Grammys as if they’re cups, and then taking pictures and putting them on Facebook,” he told Rap-Up TV. Here’s hoping he wins!
