New Music: Mystery Skulls f/ Brandy & Nile Rodgers – ‘Number 1’

While Brandy readies her next album, the R&B diva pops up on a pair of songs for Mystery Skulls. Frontman Luis Dubuc calls upon the singer and guitar legend Nile Rodgers for the disco-infused “Number 1″ and “Magic” off their upcoming debut Forever.

“I think I found my number 1 / You can never be a one-hit winder,” sings Brandy on the blissful track.

“I wrote the song with [Brandy] in mind,” Dubuc told The FADER of “Number 1.” “Then one day she heard it through someone we both knew, and she said yes. We were in the studio like a week later. When she showed up, she asked to sing on my other track, ‘Magic,’ as well. Brandy’s voice is stunning!”

Brandy, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, & Yo-Yo Reunite at BET Hip-Hop Awards

Brandy celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut single with a white-hot performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014, which aired on Tuesday night.

Against an all-white set, the R&B diva reunited with Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Yo-Yo to perform the hip-hop remix of “I Wanna Be Down.”

With her brother Ray J looking on, Brandy kicked things off followed by Lyte, Yo-Yo, and Latifah, who earned the largest applause.

New Music: Brandy – ‘Magic’ (Coldplay Cover)


Brandy comes through with a cover of Coldplay’s “Magic” for your Sunday listening pleasure. The R&B songstress effortlessly remakes Chris Martin and his band’s hit single off their album Ghost Stories, and the results are, well, magical.

Brandy has been working on the follow-up to her 2012 album Two Eleven and has teased a summer release.

Just last week, she surprised Keke Palmer with a visit to her BET talk show “Just Keke.”

Brandy Reunites with Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, & Yo-Yo on ‘Queen Latifah Show’

Twenty years after the release of her debut single “I Wanna Be Down,” Brandy reunited with her remix collaborators Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Yo-Yo on Tuesday’s “Queen Latifah Show.”

The rap divas discussed the making of the song (Latifah rewrote her rap after listening to Yo-Yo and Lyte’s verses) and Brandy admitted that she didn’t understand the lyrics at the time.

“I didn’t know what ya’ll was saying,” she laughed. “I was so happy that ya’ll was on the song, I said I don’t care, honey.”

Brandy also dished about playing Chardonnay on BET’s “The Game” and her surprise 35th birthday, hosted by her brother Ray J.

“I was surprised. I was scared. I was shocked. It was a great experience,” said Brandy. “It was the type of party where I felt like everyone there, I had a moment with them at some point in my life.”

Jessie J and Brandy Perform ‘Conquer the World’ at iTunes Festival

Jessie J celebrated the U.K. release of her sophomore album Alive with a performance at the iTunes Festival in London on Monday. In addition to singing her hits, the blonde-haired Brit brought out Brandy to duet on their empowering anthem “Conquer the World.” The ladies put their powerful pipes on display while belting out the big ballad.

“So overwhelmed right now! Partying with my closest people! Thank you iTunes thank you everyone who gave me love tonight. My heart is heavy with love,” tweeted Jessie.
