Cassie continues playing with our heart, sharing a remix to her new single “King of Hearts.” The electro-dance cut, remixed by Dutch DJ R3HAB, starts off with Cassie’s sexy vocals, escalating into a synth-heavy riot for the dance floor. The original version of the song and video are set to premiere on Valentine’s Day.

Cassie is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day. The Bad Boy singer will release her long-awaited single “King of Hearts” to iTunes on February 14. The video will also premiere that day. The electro-dance track, produced by J2, serves as the first offering from her upcoming sophomore album.

The ladies are taking charge this year. Cassie, JoJo, Solange, and V V Brown pop out from the pages of V magazine’s annual Music Issue. The singers were named “fearless females” by the fashion publication, going glam in the colorful close-ups photographed by Mick Rock. They each spoke out about their upcoming projects.

Cassie on her new sound and image: “In my video we called it ‘giving ’90s supermodel.’ It’s the perfect definition of who I am right now and what I’m going through. People aren’t going to expect me to come out with what I have.”

JoJo on being a voice for her generation: “I love Britney Spears and Madonna and Lady Gaga. I love pop music, those big pop records, but I still want it to feel like my sound. I hope people feel like, ‘Damn, that’s exactly what I’m going through, that’s what I’m thinking but I wasn’t sure how to put it into words.’ I want to sing what people are thinking and feeling. I want it to be the soundtrack to their lives.”

Solange on her new music: “My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan. At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out.”

V V Brown on her sophomore album Lollipops and Politics: “My second album has a message: it’s about my generation and things going on in the world. But I didn’t want it to come across preachy. I love writing upbeat songs with darker undertones.”

Cassie kicks off 2012 by releasing a one-minute demo of “King of Hearts,” the first single from her oft-delayed sophomore album, due this year on Bad Boy. The electro-dance number, which Kanye West recently played at his first-ever DJ gig in London, boasts slinky vocals from the singer-model.

“You are the prince of charm, seduction is your art/ You’ll never play my love/ You’re just my king of hearts,” she effortlessly coos over the J2-produced beat.

Cassie lends her voice to “Sex, Drugs, & Rock-N-Roll,” the new single from Planet VI. “Sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll yeah, some of the greatest stories never told yeah,” coos the model-turned-singer over Tha Bizness production. The singing-songwriting duo, formerly known as Rock City, will release its mixtape The American Dream on December 21.

Cassie was back in black on Thursday’s “106 & Park.” Bad Boy’s sole female signee joined her label boss Diddy to premiere the trailer for her single “King of Hearts” and discuss the next chapter in her career.

Diddy explained how the model-turned-singer has evolved since the release of her self-titled debut in 2006. “She was just really thrown into the game with two smash records and a lot of times when that happens, you’ve got to catch up to your success,” he explained. “I think over the years we’ve put her through the proper things to make sure that she catches up to how big she is worldwide and can handle the pressure.”

While she may command attention for her beauty, that doesn’t stop her from working hard. “She’s not just a regular artist, she’s also a beautiful giving person and that’s the effect that she has on the younger generation and everybody that looks up to her,” added the Bad Boy mogul.

“She doesn’t let her natural beauty get in the way for her striving and hunger to be successful. She puts that work in and she’s definitely in the underdog situation. Trust me, on this album she gon’ show ya’ll what she got just like she did on the last album. Her swag is impeccable. To me, she’s definitely one of the baddest in the game.”

Cassie, who later shared the stage with her labelmates Machine Gun Kelly and French Montana, spoke about the video for her first single “King of Hearts.” “I shot it with [director] Chris Sims and he’s done a lot of rock videos in the past, so I wanted to try something different,” she said. “We shot it in Palisades Park on the way to Malibu in this beautiful mansion.”

Cassie’s oft-delayed sophomore album will feature production from Rico Love, Jean Baptiste, and J2, who produced “Hearts.”

Cassie was glowing in an orange blazer at the Culo by Mazzucco book and art exhibition launch at Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York City last night.

Fashion photographer and visual artist Raphael Mazzucco teamed with executive editor Sean “Diddy” Combs and Interscope Geffen A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine to publish the photography book dedicated to the female backside. Dr. Dre was among the VIP guests who feasted their eyes on the racy photos.

Timbaland’s single “Pass at Me” is used in a video promo for the coffee table book, which hits stores on November 22.

Cassie resumed her hosting gig on “106 & Park,” filling in for Rocsi on Freestyle Friday. The “Me & U” singer, who will release her new album early next year, kept it casual yet chic in red sweats, a cropped white tee over a black bra, and Jesus piece, with her shaved head in cornrows. Terrence J tried to impress her with his best pick-up lines (and fell short), and she answered Twitter questions, sharing her favorite part of her career, advice for young models, and favorite thing to cook. Cassie filled in for Rocsi by co-hosting “106 & Park” alongside Terrence J yesterday. With her parents and brother in the audience, the model-turned-singer split on-air duties with a flirty Terrence and chatted about her new material, including her two mixtape tracks “Radio” and “Make You a Believer.” She also revealed that her sophomore album would arrive in early 2012, with the first single “King of Hearts” set to premiere by the end of October.

“I don’t want to call it dance ’cause it’s not dance, but it has a dance vibe if you want to say that,” explained Cassie of “Hearts.” “If we were in this room playing it right now, everybody would just be hanging from the lights.”

While she may be criticized for her vocal abilities, she’s determined to improve. “[I've been] working with vocal coaches, working really, really, really hard ’cause this is really important to me and I have a lot of great records that I’m excited for everyone to hear.”

The Bad Girl debuted a new look to go along with her new music, rocking blonde highlights and an asymmetrical haircut paired with leather pants, a midriff-baring top, and a gold Jesus piece.
