Video: CeeLo Green f/ Goodie Mob – ‘Amy’

CeeLo Green

CeeLo Green and Goodie Mob go wild for white women in the video for “Amy,” the second single off their latest album Age Against the Machine. The rap group transforms into puppets, while teaching children a lesson on interracial romance in the comedic clip, produced in conjunction with Funny or Die.

The video also stars “One Tree Hill” actress Shantel VanSanten, who plays Amy, and a Terry Richardson look-alike.

“In this new music video, we, the Goodie Mob, stylized a somewhat serious subject matter with some sense of humor,” said CeeLo. “Simply because at this point, racism, classism, and the ignorance that encourages it is…Laughable.”

Last week, CeeLo announced that he has left “The Voice” after four seasons. He is working on his solo album Girl Power and will join Lionel Richie on the “All the Hits All Night Long Tour” this summer.

CeeLo Green Performs ‘Amy’ on ‘The Voice’

CeeLo Green

CeeLo Green stepped out of his red chair and onto the stage for a performance on “The Voice” live results show. The ladies’ man strut down a conveyor belt as girls in all white stood by his side like statues and performed acrobatics overhead. His Goodie Mob member Big Gipp painted a portrait, while photographers snapped photos.

The song, which originally appears on Goodie Mob’s album Age Against the Machine, was released as a single to iTunes this week.

CeeLo is also working on his next solo album entitled Girl Power. “Women are our greatest muse,” he said. “They are an enchanted intangibility that encourages all art, you know. And so Girl Power is an homage to women and their power of influence, an appreciation.”

Watch CeeLo’s white-hot performance and listen to the studio version of “Amy” below.

Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, & CeeLo Green Welcome Christmas at The Grove

Mary J. Blige

It was far from a silent night at The Grove in L.A. Some of R&B’s biggest stars kicked off the holiday season at the shopping center’s 11th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday. The festive evening featured performances from Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, CeeLo Green, Jewel, Il Volo, and more.

After appearing on HSN earlier in the day, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul spread some cheer while singing songs off her holiday album A Mary Christmas. At one point, she flubbed the lyrics to “My Favorite Things” and stopped midway before returning to the stage to redo the performance.

Toni Braxton and Babyface teamed up for their sultry duet on “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

CeeLo Green, dressed for summer in a white tee and shorts, rocked around the 100-foot Christmas tree with seasonal tunes including “This Christmas.”

The evening capped off with a fireworks spectacular. The performances will air at a later date on a local L.A. station.

CeeLo Green Throws Out First Pitch at Dodgers Game

CeeLo Green

CeeLo Green celebrated the release of Goodie Mob’s first album in over a decade by throwing out the first pitch at the Dodgers game on Tuesday. “The Voice” star was joined by his fellow Goodie Mob groupmates Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp at Dodger Stadium on his release day.

Clad in a Dodgers jersey, blue shorts, and sandals, CeeLo took the pitcher’s mound and threw the ball right across home plate. Luckily, he saved himself from the baseball hall of shame (see Carly Rae Jepsen).

Goodie Mob’s reunion album Age Against the Machine is out now and the Atlanta group is also taping a reality show for TBS called “The Good Life.”

Video: Goodie Mob f/ Janelle Monáe – ‘Special Education’

CeeLo Green

Goodie Mob celebrates individuality in the video for “Special Education” featuring Janelle Monáe. CeeLo Green, Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp take over a high school while promoting their empowering message. The John Colombo-directed clip co-stars younger versions of the Atlanta group, who rap along to the lyrics, plus a mini Janelle.

“I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and I grew up on OutKast, I grew up on Goodie Mob, I grew up on Dungeon Family,” said Janelle. “So the fact that they’re coming back with music that is jamming and that I get to be a part of it, it’s just such an honor.”

Goodie Mob’s reunion album, Age Against the Machine, drops August 27.
