Lauryn Hill Joins Nas Onstage at Coachella

Twenty years to the day of its release, Nas returned to Coachella to celebrate the anniversary of Illmatic. After sharing the stage with Jay Z last weekend, the rap god performed his 1994 debut in its entirety and brought out Ms. Lauryn Hill during his late-night set on the Outdoor Theatre stage.

Dressed in black pants and a flowy white top, the Fugees frontwoman performed “Ready or Not” and “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)” before embracing Nas.

“My life was snatched when Ms. Lauryn Hill graced Nas’ encore with her presence!!!!” wrote one fan.

Earlier in his set, Nas also brought out Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley to perform “Welcome to Jamrock” and “Road to Zion.”

Rihanna Rehearses for Grammys with Bruno Mars and Sting

After appearing in court with Chris Brown earlier in the week, Rihanna got back to work, gearing up for her big performance at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. She ran through rehearsals with Bruno Mars and Sting, who will share the stage with her at the Staples Center on Sunday. She also met up backstage with Damian and Ziggy Marley, posting the photo on Instagram.

RiRi, who performed with Coldplay at last year’s show, is nominated for three awards at this year’s ceremony including Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

On Thursday night, she rubbed elbows with her Roc Nation family including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Melanie Fiona at Solange’s House of Blues show.

The Grammys will air live on Sunday on CBS with performances from Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Miguel, Wiz Khalifa, Taylor Swift, and more.

Roaming through the region, the reggae-loving duo hit the gritty island streets, rapping along to the bouncy cut as a motley crew of locals trail behind them. Nas and Damian Marley take it to the streets in the video for “Land of Promise” featuring Dennis Brown, the latest release from their joint album Distant Relatives. The rap and reggae stars invade Jamaica in the balmy clip, posting up in front of a graffiti portrait of Brown and mingling with the locals.

While the duo is currently touring in Europe, Nas is trying to etch time into his schedule to follow up with his next solo LP. “I got two [songs]. I’m just starting,” he revealed on BBC Radio 1Xtra. “It’s definitely a nice focus right now, the stuff I started on. I’m happy. I’m excited. I can’t wait.”
