As the release date for his debut quickly approaches, Kendrick Lamar continues to garner love from hip-hop heavyweights.

A video of K. Dot zoning out in the studio with his mentor Dr. Dre and André 3000 has surfaced via Rolling Stone. As the trio listens to Kendrick’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” it’s clear that Dre and Three Stacks are feeling the music. At the end, 3000 says, “Excellent.”

Earlier today, Kendrick snagged kudos from another music icon, Pharrell. The Neptunes hitmaker tweeted that the young rapper was akin to Bob Dylan. “@kendricklamar is this era’s Bob Dylan. Masterful story telling. Listen to it, it will elevate you. And just like that music has changed.”

Kendrick Lamar Brings Out Dr. Dre, Game, and T.I. at Hometown Show

Kendrick Lamar showed love to the West Coast by bringing out a few surprise guests during his “BET Music Matters” concert in his hometown of L.A. last night. Concertgoers got more than their money’s worth when hip-hop heavyweights T.I., Game, Big Sean, and Dr. Dre all joined Compton’s golden child onstage at Club Nokia.

“This is one of my favorite records that I’ve done,” said Kendrick before performing “The City” with fellow Compton native Game.

Kendrick’s mentor Dre joined him for their collabos “Compton” and “The Recipe,” both off Kendrick’s upcoming debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, while the King of the South jumped onstage for “Go Get It” and “What You Know.”

Big Sean also showed support for hip-hop’s new kid on the block, rapping along as Kendrick performed “Swimming Pools (Drank).”

Eminem and Dr. Dre Bond Over Beats in Tokyo

It’s not often you get to see Eminem and Dr. Dre in the same room, but the hip-hop icons crossed paths overseas on Wednesday. Dre was at the Apple Store in Tokyo hosting a live fan consumer Q&A about his popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones line. Slim Shady, who is also in Japan for his “Recovery” tour, stopped by to show support for his mentor.

Now that he’s finished with the Slaughterhouse project welcome to: OUR HOUSE, Em will return to the studio to record his eighth solo album. He is also featured on “Here Comes the Weekend,” an “alternative club banger” off Pink’s album The Truth About Love, due September 18.

It’s hard to get rap royalty in the same room together, so Rick Ross takes things into his own hands and creates a montage video for “3 Kings,” his regal collaboration with Dr. Dre and Jay-Z. The “MMG Visual Piece” shows black-and-white footage of the trio from their past and present. Rozay’s fifth album God Forgives, I Don’t is in stores today.
