Drake Apologizes for Rolling Stone Cover Comments

Drake

Drake has had a change of heart. After blasting Rolling Stone for giving away his cover to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, the remorseful rapper has issued an apology for his controversial comments. In an open letter on his blog entitled “Tough Day at the Office,” he reflected on his “extremely emotional day.”

“I completely support and agree with Rolling Stone replacing me on the cover with the legendary Phillip Seymour Hoffman,” wrote Drake.

On Thursday, he slammed the magazine for running his critical comments about Kanye West’s Yeezus and for replacing him on the cover with Hoffman after the Oscar winner suddenly died last week.

“They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue,” he tweeted. “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil.”

After taking some time to mull it over, he realized that he was wrong and saluted the legacy of Hoffman, who he called “one of the most incredible actors of our time.”

“I apologize to anybody who took my initial comments out of context because in no way would I ever want to offend the Hoffman family or see myself as bigger than that moment,” said Drake.

His anger stemmed from being unable to salvage his story and decide whether he wanted to be in the issue or not. “I would have waited until it was my time because I understand the magnitude of the cover they chose but I just wasn’t given that option and that made me feel violated,” he explained.

In closing, he said that he respects Rolling Stone‘s decision and thanked them for the cover opportunity.

Drake and Rihanna Party Together in L.A.

Drake

Drake and Rihanna had the rumor mill buzzing once again when they were spotted partying at the same nightclub on Friday night. The Canadian rapper and Barbadian beauty stepped out to Hooray Henry’s in West Hollywood, fueling reports of a reignited romance.

Drizzy rocked black Timberlands and a red vintage Iceberg shirt from the Bart Simpson Collection (Oh yes, he did). Clad in all black, RiRi was joined by her BFF Melissa Forde.

With their burly bodyguards in tow, they exited separately through the back of the club moments after one another.

The night didn’t end there. According to The Mirror, the “What’s My Name?” collaborators hopped in the same taxi and headed to Bootsy Bellows in Hollywood. Drake shut down the club to host a private party, which reportedly lasted until 4:30 a.m.

See more pics from their night out below.

Drake Previews New Material at NYC Club

French Montana and Drake

Drake took over club Griffin in New York City with French Montana on Monday. While on the turntables, he previewed two previously unreleased songs including a collaboration with Aaliyah (via Word On Road).

The late singer’s angelic voice can be heard on one track, reportedly titled “Talk Is Cheap.” Drake and his producer Noah “40″ Shebib were working on a posthumous Aaliyah album before backing out due to the backlash, but he was hopeful that one of their songs would see the light of day.

In December, he previewed what appears be the same Aaliyah collaboration while on his tour bus.

On the second song, Drizzy can be heard spitting bars including, “All white like I move thangs.”

The Toronto MC is nominated in four categories at Canada’s Juno Awards including Album of the Year, Rap Recording of the Year, and Artist of the Year. The awards will be held on March 29 in Winnipeg.
