Rap-Up TV: TLC’s T-Boz Plans to Collaborate With Drake

As one of the best-selling female groups of all time, TLC has amassed millions of fans including Drake. And it turns out that Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is also an admirer of the Young Money rapper.

“I think Drake is awesome. He’s so talented. He’s one of the special ones,” T-Boz, one third of the iconic R&B trio, told Rap-Up TV.

Drizzy has never been shy about showing his love to T-Boz, Chilli, and Left Eye. He sported a “FanMail” T-shirt during rehearsals for the VMAs and even covered the group’s song “FanMail” on 2010’s “I Get Lonely Too.”

“It’s an honor when someone appreciates your work and they do something, so I don’t trip on stuff like that. I think it’s a compliment actually,” said T-Boz of Drake’s remake.

Drizzy recently bought a TLC T-shirt (“Protection Is the Priority”) off eBay and had T-Boz and Chilli sign it.

Now October’s Very Own is linking up with TLC’s very own. T-Boz plans to hit the studio with Drake and his producer Noah “40″ Shebib in the coming days to record some new music. “I think he would write perfect for my tone because he sings in that register that I sing in,” she said.

T-Boz, who has long battled sickle-cell anemia, recently released her single “Champion” to iTunes. The star of TLC’s “Totally T-Boz” dedicates the empowering track to children with the disease, but it has a broader message.

“It really goes out to anybody who has overcome any challenge in their life, whether it’s sports, cancer, whatever,” she explained.

New Music: Wiz Khalifa – ‘Started From the Bottom (Remix)’

Wiz Khalifa

Drake’s new single “Started From the Bottom” has barely been out for 24 hours, but it’s already resonating with many of his peers including Wiz Khalifa.

The father-to-be lights up and adds a smoking verse on which he raps about touring with Drake (“I probably said no to it before, but I made $20 million, so we should probably go on tour”) and squashing his beef with Waka Flocka Flame (“I just seen Waka the other day, he wasn’t trippin’/ We just talked about the money we been makin’”).

Wiz wanted to be the first to remix the song. “Bein that im in the studio all the time and ima huge fan of music in general iss only right that out of drunkness and highness i drop this,” he tweeted. “I know that song juss came out lol but i think it speaks to all of us so i put my verse on it before everyone else does.”

Push play and let it burn.

New Music: Drake – ‘Started From the Bottom’

Started From the Bottom

You won’t have to wait until Grammy night to hear new music from Drake. The Young Money rapper jumps the gun and debuts “Started From the Bottom,” the first single from his upcoming third album. The former “Degrassi” star stays on his grind on the Mike Zombie production, reflecting on his journey from living in his mother’s house to becoming a global superstar.

“Started from the bottom, now we here/ Started from the bottom, now the whole team fu**ing here,” he spits on the catchy chorus, while pledging his allegiance to his crew. “F**k a fake friend/ Where your real friends at?”

He also posted a letter on his blog October’s Very Own addressing his return to music and all the hard work he put in to his career. “I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve,” writes Drizzy.

A video for the song was shot earlier this month in his hometown of Toronto with director Little X.

What do you think of Drake’s comeback record? Listen to the song and read his letter below.
