‘Made in America’ Festival Performances: MMG, Janelle Monáe, D’Angelo, & Jay Electronica

In addition to Jay-Z, the first day of the “Made in America” festival featured plenty of other talent. Maybach Music Group’s Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mill, Stalley, and Rockie Fresh touched down in Philly with a 45-minute performance.

D’Angelo took a break from his tour with Mary J. Blige to serve up a soulful set, while Roc Nation’s Jay Electronica performed his buzzworthy material. Plus, Covergirl’s newest spokeswoman Janelle Monáe thrilled the crowd with her infectious hits.

Janelle Monáe Entertains at the White House Easter Egg Roll

While most spent Easter weekend with their own families, Janelle Monáe was at the White House performing for the First Family. The Grammy-nominated singer joined President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters at the 134th annual White House Easter Egg Roll, entertaining more than 35,000 people on the South Lawn.

“HUGE THANK YOU 2 The First Family for having me & my family here,” tweeted Janelle.

The President is a fan of the 26-year-old Kansas native. “Janelle and her team are incredibly talented,” he said after she rallied for him at a recent campaign event in Chicago.

New Music: Estelle f/ Janelle Monáe – ‘Do My Thing’

Estelle asserts her independence on the Ne-Yo-penned “Do My Thing,” a feel-good collaboration with Janelle Monáe off her third album All of Me, in stores and online Tuesday.

“My roll it ain’t your roll, but trust I know just where I’m going,” the Londoner sings on the energetic retro tune, which was inspired by her journey going from her mother’s garage to starting a successful life of her own in the U.S.

Estelle showered praise on her quirky collaborator Monáe. “As another black girl she is so singular,” she told Rap-Up TV. “She’s genuinely nice and I understood where she was coming from with her style and her energy, and I feel that she got me too.”
