Album Cover: Jazmine Sullivan – ‘Love Me Back’

Love Me Back

She’s been known to bust the windows out the car, but Jazmine Sullivan puts down the crowbar on the cover of her sophomore album Love Me Back. The fragile songstress, dressed in all black, leans against an old-school Chevy Impala in the artwork from the November 2nd release, which contains the Missy Elliott-produced single “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles).”

“I was a little angry on the first album, busting windows and things,” said the 23-year-old Sullivan. “I’m not quite as angry on this one. You see a different side of relationships, the more loving side.”

Drake, Lloyd Banks, & Jazmine Sullivan Get Hyphy in the Bay

Drake

Though he was noticeably absent from the second night of Jay-Z and Eminem’s recent Detroit double-bill, Drake had good reason. The Toronto native headed over to Oakland, Calif., to headline KMEL’s Summer Jam 2010 at Oracle Arena on Saturday (Sept. 4), where he shared the stage with fellow performers Jazmine Sullivan, E-40, Lloyd Banks, Miguel, and more.

Rocking a varsity jacket, cargo pants, and shades, Drizzy showed Cali love by performing hits from his discography, removing his jacket near the end of his set and shouting “Free Weezy!”

Bay Area legend E-40 repped for his Sick Wid It Records imprint, donning a glittery chain that hung over his black tee, while a gorgeous Jazmine Sullivan sang her heart out during her set, looking sharp in a cropped teal jacket, shiny shirt, and ragged jeans.

Lloyd Banks added some NYC flavor to the lineup, taking the stage after newcomers Miguel, Dorrough, Bobby Brackins, YG, and R.O.D. Project warmed up the crowd. Summer may be nearing its end, but check the photos below to see how this group of performers heated things up.

Blige, who revives her verse from “Be Happy” before folding in some new lyrics. Guess Jazmine isn’t the only one dealing with man problems, huh? Be on the lookout for her new album, dropping this fall.

Jazmine Sullivan Kicks It Old School in ‘Holding You Down’ Video

Jazmine Sullivan

Jazmine Sullivan goes back in time in the video for “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles),” the first single off her sophomore album Love Me Back. But she later takes it back to the ’80s by throwing a house party, where she’s joined by Doug E. Fresh, Pepa from Salt-N-Pepa, Pete Rock, Kwame, and Missy Elliott, who produced the track.

The video is slated to premiere on VEVO on August 30 ahead of the album’s fall release. Word to ya mother.
