Video: Jhené Aiko – ‘Wading’


Following the release of her debut album in September, Jhené Aiko caps off her successful year with her sexiest video yet for “Wading,” the latest single off Souled Out.

The R&B siren plays a temptress in a seedy underground nightclub in the dark and mysterious clip. At the end, a fight breaks out as one of the men tries to protect Jhené, and busts out some impressive martial arts moves before the SWAT team raids the place.

Jhené was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Song (“The Worst”) at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.

She is currently on her “Enter the Void Tour” with SZA, The Internet, and Willow Smith, which wraps December 21 in Minneapolis.

UPDATE: Jhené has released the uncut version, which features a violent ending.

Jhené Aiko and Chris Brown Perform ‘Drunk Texting’ in L.A.

Jhené Aiko’s “Enter the Void Tour” sailed into L.A.’s Club Nokia on Sunday night. Following sets from Willow Smith, The Internet, and SZA, the L.A. native performed her Souled Out cuts for the hometown crowd and brought out some surprise guests including her daughter Namiko, Childish Gambino (“Bed Peace”), and Chris Brown.

The ladies went wild when Breezy appeared to perform their X collaboration “Drunk Texting” for the first time live.

“I’ve always been a fan of the music and just his drive to keep going despite everything that happens,” Jhené said of Chris. “They’re gonna come after you, time and time and time, you’re always gonna be your mistakes in people’s eyes. But it’s not about that. At the end of the day, it’s about the music.”

Earlier in the evening, SZA was joined onstage by her TDE labelmates Kendrick Lamar and the newly Grammy-nominated ScHoolboy Q.

The tour will play a second show at Club Nokia on Friday before wrapping on December 21 in Minneapolis.

Maybach O is back. After teasing with a snippet, Omarion unleashes the full version of his new single “Post to Be.” The R&B crooner taps Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko for the bouncy DJ Mustard-produced banger, which borrows from Chaka Demus & Pliers’ “Murder She Wrote.”

C. Breezy puts it down for the ladies on his explicit verse (“I d**k her down, can’t put it down like I do”), while Jhené Aiko unleashes her freak (“He gotta eat the booty like groceries”).

New Music: Omarion f/ Chris Brown & Jhené Aiko – ‘Post to Be’ [Snippet]

In addition to starring on “Love & Hip Hop,” Omarion has been recording his fourth album Sex Playlist. The R&B crooner, who welcomed his first son Megaa Omari Grandberry in August, calls on a couple pals, Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko, for his new single “Post to Be.” He teased the DJ Mustard-produced track in a couple animated Instagram clips.

“Gotta get rid of these hoes for me / I might have that ni**a selling his soul for me,” sings Jhené over the bouncy beat, while Breezy gets right down to business: “I d**k her down, can’t put it down like I do / I get to bussin’ no discussin’ gotta deal wit’ it.”

Omarion is working on his MMG debut for release in 2015. Preview the trio’s collaboration before it drops next week.

Jhené Aiko Performs ‘The Pressure’ on ‘Wendy’

After wrapping the “King of the Fall” tour with The Weeknd in San Francisco on Saturday, Jhené Aiko brought her soulful sound to “The Wendy Williams Show” on Monday. The Souled Out songstress hit the stage to perform an acoustic version of her single “The Pressure” off her debut album, which entered the charts at No. 3.

She also helped the talk show host announce the nominations for the Soul Train Awards 2014, and discovered that she was nominated for four awards including Best New Artist and Video of the Year for “The Worst.”

There’s trouble in paradise. Hot on the heels of STN MTN/Kauai, Childish Gambino reunites with his on-screen lover Jhené Aiko in the strange video for “Telegraph Ave.,” a cut off his album Because the Internet.

The rapper and singer drive around a beautiful lush island while listening to Lloyd’s “Oakland.” They’re enjoying their tropical vacation until things take a dark turn. While making out with Jhené in a sugarcane field, Childish is hit by a car and morphs into an octopus-esque creature. The driver warns Jhené that it’s not safe before Gambino attacks the men with his tentacles.
