Jill Scott Lights Up Hollywood at Album Preview Concert

Jill Scott brought the stars out at Hollywood nightclub Playhouse on Monday night, debuting songs off her fourth album The Light of the Sun. Draped in a black gown with an avant-garde haircut, the Philly songstress performed for a VIP crowd that included Brandy, JoJo, Swizz Beatz, Teairra Mari, Taraji P. Henson, Reggie Bush, and more, who grooved to her soulful sounds.

Jill Scott makes it last forever with Anthony Hamilton on “So in Love,” what she calls the first official single from her fourth album Light of the Sun, due this summer. The grown ‘n’ sexy tune sees the two R&B singers expressing their love for their romantic interests, with the Philly songstress eyeing her man at a social gathering.

Behind the Video: Jill Scott f/ Eve – ‘Shame’

Jill Scott gets funky in Philly on set of her video for “Shame,” the Eve-assisted single off her Light of the Sun album, due this summer. While on location at the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center in her hometown, the soulstress glowed alongside E-V-E, as well as Ms. Jade, Peedi Crakk, The Roots’ Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, and Meek Mill, as they boogied down to the uplifting record. Video: JoJo Covers Jill Scott’s ‘Whenever You’re Around’

JoJo showed off her powerful pipes on YouTube, covering one of her favorite artists Jill Scott. The 20-year-old songbird wowed with an acapella rendition of the neo-soul singer’s “Whenever You’re Around” performed in her kitchen.

“It’s a dream of mine to work with Ms. Scott. She is a Queen to me,” tweeted JoJo, who last week announced that Jumping Trains would be the new title of her long-awaited third album.

As for Jill, she recently signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records and will release her fourth studio album The Light of the Sun later this year.
