JoJo showcased her new single “Demonstrate” live for the first time during Fashion Week at the Metropolitan Pavillion in New York on Tuesday. Strutting down the runway in a short black dress and stilettos, the 21-year-old singer set the sexy mood before the Front Row fashion show at STYLE360.
Bridget Kelly praised her performance. “My boo @jojoistheway tearin it up for Front Row’s fashion show,” tweeted the Roc Nation songstress.
Just last month, JoJo shot a video for the Noah “40” Shebib-produced song in Beverly Hills. Go behind the scenes with Rap-Up TV.
The stars came out to celebrate Whitney Houston’s final on-screen performance at the premiere of Sparkle in Hollywood last night. Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina proudly walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Nick Gordon.
“Time to walk this carpet&rep mommy like she would want me too (: god bless u all !” tweeted the 19-year-old.
Whitney’s mother Cissy avoided the media, but Ray J did make the press rounds. The film’s leading lady Jordin Sparks wowed in a white gown, posing for photos with her parents, while her co-star Cee Lo Green showed off his tatted arms in a short-sleeve tee. Other sightings included Christina Milian, JoJo, Vivica Fox, and Keke Palmer.
Houston plays the mother of Sparks in the remake of the 1976 Motown-era film, which arrives in theaters today.
JoJo escaped into her “personal twisted fantasy” while shooting the sensual video for “Demonstrate,” the Noah “40” Shebib-produced single off her upcoming album. Rap-Up TV was on set as the 21-year-old songstress filmed scenes at a mansion in Beverly Hills for what she calls her sexiest video yet, directed by Jason Beattie (Miguel’s “Adorn”).
“I just wanted to have this video be sexy and powerful, but not be so overt as it could have gone with the lyrics,” explained JoJo, who shared an intimate scene with her hunky male co-star. “As a human being, it just feels awkward because normally it takes you months to get up to that point where you’d be so intimate with someone, but it was fun, it was kind of liberating. It feels like a naughty thing to do.”
JoJo has decided to go in a different direction with her music and has scrapped her Jumping Trains album and returned to the studio to record the project under a new title. “I’m feeling more feminine. I’m just feeling good, so I want to represent that,” she said.
She plans to do more work with 40. “He was on my wish list of people to work with,” said JoJo, who caught the attention of the Canadian producer with her popular remix to Drake’s “Marvin’s Room.”
In addition to 40, she has been in the lab with Da Internz, Beau Dozier, Kadis & Sean, and Steve Franks, but don’t hold her to a release date. “I’m just tired of saying we’re wrapping it up for the last five years,” she joked.
JoJo was looking sexy for summer at the Teen Choice Awards 2012 in Universal City on Sunday. Fresh off the buzz of her Noah “40” Shebib-produced single “Demonstrate,” the 21-year-old singer showed off her legs in a sparkly skirt, white tank top, and Christian Louboutin heels while walking the magenta carpet. She changed into a colorful body-hugging dress for the Staples for Students after-party. Check out her fashion game.
Just when you least expected it, JoJo surprises us and debuts her brand new single “Demonstrate.” After racking up over 45 million views with her viral cover of Drake’s “Marvin’s Room,” the 21-year-old songstress teams with the song’s producer Noah “40” Shebib on the grown and sexy jam. While we wait for more music from JoJo, the pop starlet teases us with her sexy collaboration with JON MCXRO, a group made up of production trio The Stereotypes (Far East Movement, Justin Bieber). The track, along with collaborations with Miguel and Bun B, appears on their new album The Fifth of Never (Gold Cup Edition).
JoJo’s oft-delayed album Jumping Trains is still awaiting a release date. “Curious 2know the status of my album? tweet BlackgroundMG,” she wrote. “They control the $ & album date. In the meantime, I’m gonna keep working LoveUAll.”
She received a major co-sign from Nicki Minaj, who shouted her out on Twitter. “Yo jojo on sum real g shit ‘the high road’ is one of the best rnb albums of all time. Why aren’t u making music??? I need another one my G,” tweeted the “Starships” rapper.
JoJo explored some new territory by performing a cover of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” at LACMA for the Harvard-Westlake Charity event in L.A. last month. Backed by a live band including songwriters Josh Alexander and Rick Nowels, the 21-year-old songbird put her soulful spin on the ’80s pop hit, which topped the charts six years before she was born.

JoJo gets her swagger back on the Danja-produced “Sexy to Me,” featured in her Clearasil PerfectaWash TV campaign. “I don’t need nobody ’cause I’m sexy to me,” sings the pint-sized powerhouse on the confident club-ready cut, which is not an official single off her upcoming album Jumping Trains.
“It’s just a sassy record that’s empowering and there’s this confidence to it,” JoJo told Rap-Up TV.
