Jordin Sparks is head over heels in love on her new song “Skipping a Beat.” The “American Idol” champ, who is dating Jason Derulo, sings the praises of her man on the breezy beat.

“You’re my lover, you’re my friend, you’re my gangsta,” sings a lovestruck Jordin.

She also posted an Instagram video of her singing the song to her man, whose single “The Other Side” was also inspired by their relationship.

It was ladies’ night as VH1 presented its annual “VH1 Divas” live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday. Music’s leading ladies dazzled on the red carpet in their glamorous gowns before heading inside to honor some of the greatest divas of all time including the late Whitney Houston and Donna Summer.

Ciara was stunning in a shimmering black Pamella Roland dress. Kelly Rowland was gorgeous in green, while Keri Hilson kept it sexy and classy in a black pantsuit. Jordin Sparks was glowing in a studded gold number, and Australia’s blonde bombshell Iggy Azalea modeled a black Pucci number.

Bobbi Kristina, Cissy Houston, Ray J, & Jordin Sparks Attend ‘Sparkle’ Premiere

The stars came out to celebrate Whitney Houston’s final on-screen performance at the premiere of Sparkle in Hollywood last night. Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina proudly walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Nick Gordon.

“Time to walk this carpet&rep mommy like she would want me too (: god bless u all !” tweeted the 19-year-old.

Whitney’s mother Cissy avoided the media, but Ray J did make the press rounds. The film’s leading lady Jordin Sparks wowed in a white gown, posing for photos with her parents, while her co-star Cee Lo Green showed off his tatted arms in a short-sleeve tee. Other sightings included Christina Milian, JoJo, Vivica Fox, and Keke Palmer.

Houston plays the mother of Sparks in the remake of the 1976 Motown-era film, which arrives in theaters today.

Whitney Houston’s legacy lives on in the video for “Celebrate,” the R. Kelly-produced single off the soundtrack to Sparkle and the final song recorded by the late legend. Her Sparkle co-star Jordin Sparks threw a house party and celebrated the life of her mentor with her co-stars including Derek Luke, Omari Hardwick, Goapele, Carmen Ejogo, and Tika Sumpter.

“What we wanted to do was make sure that this was a fun, happy video and just kind of dedicating it to her,” the “American Idol” champ told “Entertainment Tonight.” “What better song to leave for people to hear than a song that is so upbeat and just so happy and so encouraging?”

The 22-year-old singer plays Whitney’s daughter in the remake of the 1976 Motown-era film, which opens in theaters on August 10.
