Rap-Up TV: Mike Posner Enlists Justin Bieber, 2 Chainz for ‘Pages’

It’s been nearly four years since Mike Posner released his debut 31 Minutes to Takeoff. The Detroit singer has been working on the follow-up Pages, and recently caught up with Rap-Up TV to discuss everything from his love for André 3000 to his upcoming collaboration with Justin Bieber to his struggle with depression.

The 26-year-old, who attended Duke University, thought that getting a record deal would make him happy. “And of course, when I got these things, in a lot of ways it made my problems worse,” he said. “I felt very disillusioned. I had success, I had money, a lot of my dreams had come true, but I didn’t feel any happier.”

So one day while eating a “nasty sandwich” on an airplane, he was inspired to give back. “The idea was to make an album and for every album I sold, give a meal to a kid, one for one,” he explained.

He has collaborated with Big Sean on the album’s first single “Top of the World” as well as 2 Chainz, Labrinth, and Justin Bieber, who he worked with on a song called “Get Down.”

“It’s very stripped. It’s like the most minimal song on the record. One guitar, drums, and a bass, and that’s it,” said Posner, who co-wrote Bieber’s hit “Boyfriend.” “It’s all unquantized too, J Dilla style, so that’s really cool.”

One person he dreams of collaborating with is OutKast’s André 3000, whose concert he attended when he was 11.

Prior to the release of Pages, he plans to drop a new collection called …Featuring Me. “It’s a bunch of songs featuring me that I wrote and produced, but all collabs with other people,” said Posner. “For me as a writer and producer, I do a ton of different shit, so this project is kinda like me bragging in a way, like look at what I can do.”

Justin Bieber Parties in Atlanta with Rick Ross, Diddy, & Cassie

Stalley, Justin Bieber, Diddy, and Rick Ross

Justin Bieber has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but that hasn’t stopped him from turning up. On Wednesday night, the “Confident” singer hit Vanquish Lounge in Atlanta with model Chantel Jeffries and his very own hip-hop entourage including Diddy, Rick Ross, and Jermaine Dupri.

He entered with a hoodie, but it wasn’t long before he stripped shirtless, sipping from an AQUAhydrate bottle and rocking gold chains around his neck. With a blunt in hand, Rozay popped bottles of Belaire Rosé champagne, while Diddy threw his arm around Bieber. Cassie, Wale, and Stalley were also spotted in the VIP section.

After the club, they brought the party to the studio. “Back in my second home. Good to be back. Focused on building up positive energy,” Bieber tweeted earlier in the day.

On Tuesday, the Biebs stopped by T-Pain’s house. “Say what you want about @justinbieber but that man is about to drop some of the best music I’ve heard in years. YEARS!!” tweeted Pain.

T-Pain and Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber was caught drinking and driving once again, but this time, it was at T-Pain’s crib. The “Confident” singer stopped by the Auto-Tune King’s house in Atlanta for some work and play.

Rocking gold chains and sunglasses, the Biebs raced T-Pain in an arcade game while holding a red cup. They also hit the studio to record some music.

T-Pain and his wife Amber Najm snapped a photo with the embattled star in their game room.

“I’m still up working w/ @PainzGirl & @justinbieber,” tweeted T-Pain.

Pain has been eyeing some big names for the remix to his single “Up Down (Do This All Day)” including Rihanna and André 3000. Could the Biebs be one of the featured guests or is a new collaboration in the works?
