Yeezus

Yeezy season is officially upon us. Kim Kardashian gave birth to the couple’s daughter over the weekend, and now Kanye West delivers his highly-anticipated sixth album Yeezus.

The new father crafts his most dark, audacious, and brash album yet. The 10 tracks feature production from Rick Rubin, Daft Punk, and Hudson Mohawke, with appearances by Chief Keef, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Charlie Wilson, and even God.

The music mastermind has complained that despite his 21 Grammys, he has never won Album of the Year. Will Yeezus be the album to change that?

Kanye West Premieres ‘American Psycho’-Inspired Short Film

Scott Disick

Kanye West debuted his American Psycho-inspired short film at his L.A. listening party last week. Now on the eve of Yeezus’ release, he presents the film in high quality via his website, KanyeWest.com.

The gory two-minute clip, created by DONDA, stars Scott Disick aka Lord Disick and Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban.

Disick plays a businessman, who is obsessed with Kanye and Yeezus, and goes to great lengths to show his appreciation for the music. When Cheban acts nonchalant about his work, Disick takes an axe and viciously murders him.

“Try getting the Yeezus album now, motherfucker!” he yells as blood spews everywhere.

Watch the carnage unfold below.

Kanye West Debuts Gory Short Film at ‘Yeezus’ Listening

Kanye West unveiled his American Pyscho-inspired short film during his listening session in Los Angeles on Friday night. Just like “New Slaves,” the graphic visuals were projected against a wall outside Milk Studios, where hundreds of celebrities, journalists, and tastemakers gathered to hear his new album Yeezus in a warehouse with flashing lights.

The two-minute clip was shot earlier this month in Brooklyn and stars Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban and her sister Kourtney’s boyfriend Scott Disick. In the horror film, a dapper Disick ends up attacking Cheban with an axe, leaving his bloody body on the floor.

Rap-Up was on the scene and captured some footage. However, it was difficult to hear the dialogue as Yeezus was blasting in the background. The police eventually asked ‘Ye’s camp to turn off the sound.

The event brought out Justin Bieber, Tyler, the Creator, Evan Ross, Melody Thornton, and Disick, who were also seen jamming to Yeezus. However, Yeezus himself never blessed the crowd with his presence.

Tracklisting: Kanye West – ‘Yeezus’

Yeezus

On Tuesday, Kanye West will release his sixth album Yeezus. There have been several tracklistings for the highly-guarded project floating around the Internet, but following its leak, the official tracklisting has surfaced.

The 10 tracks include appearances from Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef, King L, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Charlie Wilson, and even God on “I Am a God.” Rick Rubin serves as executive producer, while Daft Punk, Mike Dean, Travi$ Scott, Hudson Mohawke, and Young Chop assist on the production side.

“We didn’t give a fuck about what nobody said from the outside looking in,” Kanye said at the album listening in New York. “We just wanted to make the best product possible and this is just the beginning of an entirely new mentality of how to make music directly for the people.”

West recruited Rubin at the very end to give the album a cohesive sound. “He is a true artist who happens to make music under the wide umbrella of hip-hop,” the Def Jam founder told The Wall Street Journal. “He is in no way beholden to hip-hop’s typical messaging musical cliches. Hip-hop is a grander, more personal form because of his contributions, and hopefully his work will inspire others to push the boundaries of what’s possible in hip-hop.”

Kanye West Records ‘I Am a God’ with Rick Rubin

Kanye West

The countdown is on to Yeezus. With less than a week until its release, Kanye West continues his unorthodox promotion campaign. He posted a short video on KanyeWest.com that shows him recording one of the album cuts, “I Am a God,” alongside executive producer Rick Rubin.

“I just talked to Jesus, he said what up Yeezus/ I said shit, I’m chillin’/ Tryna stack these millions/ I know he the most high, but I am a close tie/ Me casa su casa, that’s our costra nostra/ I am a god,” raps Yeezy.

He shares a laugh with Rubin and Mike Dean after laying down his verse.
