Chef Kelis gives us a taste of her new album Flesh Tone by offering up four snippets from the summer release, including “4th of July,” “Home,” “Scream,” and “22nd Century.” Free School’s DJ Replay, who has been working closely with Kelis on the project, has released a mixtape that also features dance remixes of her hits “Milkshake,” “Caught Out There,” “Bossy,” “Lil Star,” and her latest chart burner “Acapella.”

After a nearly four-year absence, Kelis awakens our senses with the visually striking video for “Acapella,” the first single from her fifth studio album Flesh Tone, arriving in the U.S. this June. The singer describes the Rankin and Chris Cottam-directed clip as having a “really strong, universal, tribal vibe to it.” Her eight-month-old son Knight Jones, the inspiration behind the David Guetta production, makes his first public appearance on the back of his mama.

Kelis debuted a new electro-pop song called “22nd Century” from her forthcoming album Flesh Tone at the Belvedere Music Lounge during the Winter Music Conference in Miami. She also sang “4th of July,” which she previously performed at a New York club. The multi-faceted star will unleash her tribal music video for “Acapella” tomorrow.

In addition to being an entertainer and mother, Kelis can also hold it down in the kitchen. The “Acapella” singer put on her chef’s hat and prepared a meal for 36 people at the W South Beach in Miami for Belvedere Vodka’s Cocktail Pairing Dinner during Winter Music Conference on Thursday evening (March 25).

The Le Cordon Bleu culinary school graduate cooked duck salad, red snapper, and bread pudding for her guests, including label exec Jimmy Iovine. Yum!

Kelis is the last woman standing in the video for “Acapella” co-directed by Rankin and Chris Cottam. The fashion maven forgoes her chic wardrobe for a more tribal look.

“It has a really strong, universal, tribal vibe to it,” she told Rap-Up.com of the clip for the first single from her Flesh Tone album. “It’s not fashion-oriented at all. Actually, it’s the complete opposite.”
