Lil Wayne Pens Love Songs for ‘Devol’ Album

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne had love on his mind while serving time at Rikers Island in 2010. During a new interview with “MTV’s Hip Hop POV” at his Miami crib, Weezy reveals that he was writing love songs for a new album called Devol. However, it’s unclear if he still has plans to release the project.

“I was also recording an album at the same time called Devol, spelled D-E-V-O-L ’cause that’s ‘loved’ spelled backwards,” the Young Money rapper told DJ Amanda Seales. “And it’s my version of love songs. And what I mean by my version of love songs is they’re not saying I love you.”

Part one of the two-part interview will air tonight at midnight. See him speak on the Devol project below.

Following My First Mind EP

Young Money’s newest signee PJ Morton makes love not war on “Lover,” one of the cuts off his Following My First Mind EP. The singer-songwriter, who currently plays keyboard in Maroon 5, gets a hand from bossman and fellow New Orleans native Lil Wayne on the pattering cut.

“I was excited from the start about the opportunity with Young Money, because they are about the only label that is about creativity and individuality,” said Morton. “They are the only ones doing it like labels did it back in the old days when you had Marvin Gaye doing something worlds apart from Stevie Wonder, who was doing something worlds apart from Donny Hathaway, yet it was all celebrated; all successful.”

In addition to Weezy, the EP also features Adam Levine and Jazmine Sullivan.
