Video Premiere: Mateo – ‘This Xmas (Be My Baby)’


While we wait for his Interscope Records debut to drop in 2013, Mateo warms us up with some holiday fare. On the original tune “This Xmas (Be My Baby),” the Cincinnati singer-songwriter croons about sharing Christmas with a loved one. In the festive video, Mateo spends the most wonderful time of the year in New York City with his friends including producer Kerry “Krucial” Brothers.

“While recording for the album at the Krucial compound, we got a new camera,” said Mateo. “We took the camera out with us the first night and this is pretty much what happened. New York…Christmas…always gets you in the spirit. Happy holidays, fly world!”

Mateo will perform at the famed SOBs in New York on December 19 and debut another holiday song, “Let It Snow (Xmas Time),” in the coming week.

Mateo is currently putting the finishing touches on his Interscope Records debut, due in early 2013.

New Music: Mateo – ‘Suite 823’ [Mixtape]

Mateo invites you into his world with his latest mixtape Suite 823. The R&B singer-songwriter serves up nine tracks including “Carry On,” a duet with Stacy Barthe (“Looking You Up”), and a stripped-down cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans,” with production by Kerry “Krucial” Brothers and John Ehmann.

“I decided to create Suite 823 to give my fans a journey into my life. To me, Suite 823 (aka “Thinking of You” in numeral code) is a place where I was able to reflect on past love, fans, and my future,” said Mateo. “Everyone’s Suite 823 looks different and has different content. Mine may look different from time to time, but this mixtape gives a glimpse (for my fans) into my Suite 823.”

Mateo is currently in the studio working on his Interscope Records debut, due this fall.

Carry On

Mateo keeps his head to the sky on the uplifting “Carry On,” the first release off his mixtape Suite 823, the follow-up to 2011’s Love & Stadiums. Produced by Alicia Keys’ longtime collaborator Kerry “Krucial” Brothers and Zeke MacUmber for Krucial Noise, the upbeat song features a hopeful message about leaving the past behind and moving on with life. Mateo has inked a deal with Interscope Records, where he will release his full-length debut.

Mateo Goes Acoustic with Cover of T-Pain’s ’5 O’Clock’


It’s “5 O’Clock” in the morning and Mateo is feeling in the mood for another cover. The singer-songwriter, who released his EP Love & Stadiums II in December, turns T-Pain’s Auto-Tuned hit “5 O’Clock” into an acoustic gem. The cover is the latest in his Stripped Series, which has included Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” Lil Wayne’s “Shoot Me Down,” and Kanye West’s “POWER.”
