Melanie Fiona Covers Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic’ for Billboard

Melanie Fiona

Melanie Fiona has been covering Alanis Morissette’s ’90s hit “Ironic” during her live shows. The Canadian powerhouse performed a stripped-down version for Billboard’s Candid Covers series. With just a guitarist and a mic, she put her soulful spin on the pop-rock tune.

“It’s a great song that really cut through in pop culture when I was a kid,” said Melanie. “I was instantly reminded, without even hearing the record, back to that moment, the connection of what it is, the highs and lows of life, and the beautiful journey of how life can be so high up here and just go right down to the bottom. Sometimes the only way to describe that is ironic.”

Plus, watch her perform her latest single “Wrong Side of a Love Song” off her sophomore album The MF Life.
