Tracy Morgan, Free, Ed Lover, and Spike Lee

Not even the rain could stop thousands of Michael Jackson fans from turning out to celebrate the King of Pop’s 51st birthday in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Saturday (Aug. 29). The party, organized by filmmaker Spike Lee, drew the likes of the Rev. Al Sharpton, Ed Lover, Free, and Tracy Morgan. DJ Spinna kept the crowd moving, playing MJ classics. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz declared the occasion “Michael Jackson Memorial Day.”

A flashmob gathered at Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday (Aug. 29), Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday, to recreate the iconic zombie dance from the “Thriller” music video. Although they didn’t break the world record for most people to dance to “Thriller” at one time—1,227 people set last October—it was still a fitting tribute to the late King of Pop. Watch below.
