J. Cole’s obsession turns deadly in the dark video for “Power Trip,” the first single off his sophomore album Born Sinner, due June 25. The Roc Nation MC puts a whole new perspective on his love song as he commits murder in the grim visuals.

The chilling clip opens with a nervous-looking Cole at the strip club, cutting to him parked outside a girl’s house as her boyfriend, Miguel, gets ready to go out. Cole and a friend are later seen driving with wood and plastic bags on top of their car. A cop pulls them over along the highway, but lets them go after finding just a shovel in their trunk.

They continue to the forest, where we discover that Cole has acted out on his murderous plans as he unloads a body from the roof. But just who was the victim?

Miguel Performs ‘Power Trip’ with J. Cole at Barclays Center

Miguel had Brooklyn’s Barclays Center all the way turnt up when he brought out J. Cole. During the latest stop on Alicia Keys’ “Set the World on Fire” tour, the two performed Cole’s new single “Power Trip” for the first time live.

“Big shout to @JColeNC for coming out and rocking Barclays w me tonight. #RADTIMES,” tweeted Miguel.

After the U.S. trek wraps on April 18, Miguel will head overseas with Alicia for the European leg in May.

Monica Makes Music with Miguel

Monica and Miguel are cooking up a collabo. The two hit the studio on Friday to work on Monica’s seventh album. The 32-year-old songstress took to Twitter to share some of the silly photos from their session.

“Breaker Breaker 1/9 #WeWorking 10/4 #CopyDat @Miguelunlimited album 7… New Monica❤LOL,” tweeted Monica.

She was also in the lab with Future earlier in the week.

Last year, the R&B vet revealed some of the other big names on board including Missy Elliott, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, Stargate, Mike WiLL Made It, and Polow Da Don.

Monica’s 2012 album New Life debuted at No. 4, selling 69,000 copies in its first week.

Video: Miguel – ‘Candles in the Sun’

With a Grammy under his belt, Miguel debuts the video for “Candles in the Sun,” a cut off his sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream. The R&B crooner gets serious, tackling social, political, and religious themes in the bold black-and-white visuals. He makes references to Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook elementary tragedy, and the war on drugs through the powerful imagery.

“It’s so easy to ignore what’s right in front of us sometimes,” said Miguel. “I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in.”

New Music: J. Cole f/ Miguel – ‘Power Trip’

After giving his fans five new songs as part of his Truly Yours collection, J. Cole continues spreading the love on Valentine’s Day.

The Roc Nation star drops “Power Trip,” the official first single off his sophomore album Born Sinner. The self-produced track finds him reuniting with the Grammy-winning Miguel, who he collaborated with on 2010’s “All I Want Is You.”

“I’ve always wanted to use my voice to shift culture, even if just a millimeter. This song is one of my strongest to date and I look forward to hearing fans reactions,” said Cole.

Born Sinner has also spawned the buzz single “Miss America.” The project was originally due January 28, but is awaiting a new release date.
