K’naan reaches out a hand on “Is Anybody Out There?” the lead single off his 5-track EP More Beautiful Than Silence, available tomorrow on iTunes. The triumphant production, which features his fellow Canadian Nelly Furtado, serves as an anthem for anyone who’s ever felt invisible. “I don’t wanna be left in this war tonight/ Am I alone in this fight?/ Is anybody out there?” asks Nelly. Answer the call.

K’naan united the globe with his World Cup anthem “Wavin’ Flag.” Now the Somali-Canadian musician is gearing up for the release of his EP More Beautiful Than Silence. The 5-track digital release will hit iTunes on January 24, with contributions from Nas (“Nothing to Lose”), Ryan Tedder (“Better”), and Nelly Furtado on the first single “Is Anybody Out There.” A full-length album will follow in the spring. Before Christmas, Nelly Furtado shared some footage from her recording sessions with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Now the singer hits the studio with Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas) to record the follow-up to her multi-platinum English album Loose, due next summer. “It has a real classic sound to it, a sound that’s really authentic, super soulful,” says Nelly.

Make way for Nelly Furtado. The “Promiscuous” singer is returning to pop music in 2012 with her fourth English album, formerly titled Lifestyle. In her “T.S.I (Part One)” video, she hits the studio with super-producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. The two have recorded about 10 songs together for the summer release.

“This is my first time working with Rodney Jerkins,” says the Canadian songbird. “I only met him about six weeks ago actually. We hit it off creatively. We definitely speak a creative language together and it’s really fun working with him.”

Nelly Furtado debuted part of a new song, reportedly titled “Mystery,” during the Delta Tejo Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. The pop songstress has been in the studio with Pharrell, among others, working on her fourth English LP Lifestyle, the follow-up to 2006’s multi-platinum Loose. Last year she tweeted about recording a song with Nas and is set to appear on “Mother Knows,” a track off Game’s R.E.D. Album.

Game has no shortage of star power on his R.E.D. Album (Aug. 23). His long list of collaborators includes Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Dr. Dre (“Dead People”), and Tyler, the Creator (“Martians vs. Goblins”). For his second single, the Lex Luger-produced “Bottles and Rockin’ J’s,” he’s recruited hip-hop heavyweights Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and Rick Ross.

In addition, The Neptunes produced a reflective record with Nelly Furtado called “Mother Knows.” “It’s just a walk through a time period in my life when I was young and my mom was trying to instill all these values in me and I was just a rebel and going against everything she said,” he tells Rap-Up TV. “Nelly Furtado comes singing on the hook sort of like Janet Jackson-ish.”

With the current uprising in Libya against leader Muammar Gaddafi, Nelly Furtado is washing her hands clean of blood money. The Canadian songbird reveals that the dictator paid her $1 million to perform in Italy back in 2007, but she will be donating the sum to charity.

“In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy. I am going to donate the $,” shared Nelly.

She isn’t the only artist who accepted money to perform for Gaddafi. Over the past few years, Mariah Carey, Usher, Beyoncé, and Lionel Richie have entertained members of his family, with Mimi reportedly taking a $1 million payout to perform four songs at a 2010 New Year’s party in St. Barts.

Furtado, who most recently released her greatest hits package The Best of Nelly Furtado, has enlisted Nas for a new track from her upcoming fifth album Lifestyle, due later this year.

Canada’s songbird is meeting QB’s Finest. Nelly Furtado has revealed that she recently recorded a new track featuring Nas, promising that fans will get to hear the collaboration soon. “Just finished rough mix of my new track featuring @NaS. You’ll hear it soon!!! Xo,” tweeted the “I’m Like a Bird” singer.

Furtado, who released her Spanish-language album Mi Plan in 2009, most recently dropped her greatest hits collection The Best of Nelly Furtado late last year. She is working on her fourth English LP Lifestyle, due later this year.

Over a decade deep in the game, Canadian singer Nelly Furtado has unveiled the tracklist for her greatest hits album The Best of Nelly Furtado, due November 16. Boasting cuts from the beginning of her career (“I’m Like a Bird,” “Turn Off the Light”) to more recent fare (“Promiscuous,” “Say It Right”), the quintessential collection includes 17 tracks from the songbird, including three new tunes “Stars,” “Girlfriend in the City,” and the single “Night Is Young.”
