After hitting up “The Late Show with David Letterman” last month, K’naan linked up with fellow Canadian Nelly Furtado on Thursday’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show” to perform their triumphant collaboration “Is Anybody Out There?” off K’naan’s EP More Beautiful Than Silence.

The Somalian rapper’s third album Country, God or The Girl is due May 1 featuring Bono, Nas, and Keith Richards, while Nelly is readying T.S.I., the follow-up to her 2006 English-language album Loose, for the summer.

K’naan and Nelly Furtado reach out a hand in the video for “Is Anybody Out There?” their uplifting collaboration off K’naan’s EP More Beautiful Than Silence. The Canadian stars shine a spotlight on anyone who’s ever felt alone in the dark Chris Robinson-directed clip.

“I was thrilled when he asked me to do it ’cause when he sent the song to me, I just loved it immediately,” said Nelly, who will release her new album T.S.I. this summer. “I just think it’s a very hopeful and sweet, pure song about emotions that everybody feels every day of their lives. We always want to feel like we’re a part of something and that we’re not alone.”

K’naan has set a May 1 release date for his next album Country, God or The Girl, which will feature collaborations with Bono, will.i.am, Nas, and Keith Richards.

K’naan and Nelly Furtado give a voice to anyone who’s ever felt invisible in the video for their collaboration “Is Anybody Out There?” off K’naan’s EP More Beautiful Than Silence. The fellow Canadians bundled up while shooting the wintery video for the clip with director Chris Robinson.

“I was thrilled when he asked me to do it ’cause when he sent the song to me, I just loved it immediately,” said Nelly. “I just think it’s a very hopeful and sweet, pure song about emotions that everybody feels every day of their lives. We always want to feel like we’re a part of something and that we’re not alone.”

K’naan praised his collaborator. “Nelly brings an incredible amount of flavor,” he said. “A lot of singers are very much like other singers, but I don’t know anybody like Nelly.”
